With a 3-2 road win over the Sharks, the Canucks improved to 12-7-3 this season. Vancouver was favored on the puck line, but failed to cover. The total for the game was set at 6.5 goals, and the combined 5 goals fell short of that mark.

All of Vancouver’s goals came after the Sharks opened the scoring in the second period. Pius Suter tied it up at 5:19 in the second, and he also scored the game-winner with just 26 seconds left in regulation.

The Detroit Red Wings Are Coming Off A Win

With a 2-1 win over the Sabres, the Red Wings moved closer to .500, now sitting at 10-11-2. Detroit, favored on the puck line, failed to cover, and the total of 3 goals fell well short of the 6.5 line.

After giving up a goal in the first period, the Red Wings responded with two of their own in the second. Both of Detroit’s goals came on the power play, courtesy of Dylan Larkin.

Vancouver Offense Breakdown

Pius Suter led the way for the Canucks with two goals, his third and fourth of the season, on just three shots on goal. Jake DeBrusk added his first goal of the season, which came at 4:22 in the third period.

Vancouver took 27 shots on goal and recorded 25 offensive giveaways. The Canucks were held scoreless in the first period before Suter got them on the board at 14:41 in the second period.

Red Wings Offense Breakdown

In their 2-1 win over Buffalo, the Red Wings’ offense was held scoreless until the second period, when Dylan Larkin netted his 6th and 7th goals of the season. Larkin took four shots on goal and found the net twice, with both goals coming on power plays.

Detroit fired 23 shots on goal but struggled with giveaways, tallying 15. Patrick Kane picked up his 6th assist on Larkin’s first goal, while Alex DeBrincat earned his 4th assist and Lucas Raymond his 10th on the second goal.

Vancouver’s defense gave up the first goal just 2:37 into the second period and another late in the third, but they held on for a 3-2 win. Kevin Lankinen made 21 saves with a 91.3% save percentage, and the Canucks’ defense added 5 takeaways and 24 hits.

Defensively, the Red Wings will look to build on their last performance, where they allowed just one goal to the Sabres. Cam Talbot made 31 saves, finishing with a 96.9% save percentage. Detroit’s defense also recorded 4 takeaways, 11 hits, and 16 blocks.
