What to Know
With the legalization of sports betting in Tennessee, Action 24/7 aims to provide the best betting options for Tennesseans. To help inform those in the Volunteer State of the betting options they may be unfamiliar with, we’ve put together this series to provide an introduction and overview of how to bet on specific sports.
Tennessee EPL Betting – Moneyline Bet
The most common type of bet is a “moneyline” bet, where you pick the winner of a game. Unlike most sports, soccer games can end in a tie, so betting on a draw is an option as well.
For example, the moneyline odds for Manchester City and Manchester United may read “Manchester City -176, Draw +325, Manchester United +450.” In this example, Manchester City is the heavy favorite.
You would need to bet $176 on City to win $100. Betting $100 on a draw would win you $325 if the game ended in a tie, and a $100 bet on Man U would pay $450 if they won.
Tennessee EPL Betting – Halftime/Full Time
When betting on the halftime/full-time lines, you are making a prediction on both who will be ahead at halftime (or if the score will be tied), and the winner (or tie) at full time. Because you’re ramping up the bet, payouts here are much higher than solely on the moneyline.
Betting on the favorite for both halves may have a +115 payline, while betting the favorite in the first half and the underdog to win could have a +5000 odds line.
Tennessee EPL Betting – Total Goals Over/Under
Don’t want to deal with picking a winner or the frustration of a draw? Betting the goal total may be right for you. When betting the over/under, sportsbooks set a line with varying odds based on how many goals you think will be scored, ranging from under 0.5 (betting on a 0-0 draw) to over 6.5 (at least seven goals being scored).
You can bet over or under at any of those goal levels or parlay your bets across various sportsbooks to enhance your gains or minimize your losses.
Tennessee EPL Betting – First Goal Scorer
Betting on the first goal scorer is one of the toughest bets to predict. With 11 players per side who could theoretically score (though don’t waste your money betting on a keeper to score first), not to mention three subs per side (chosen from seven on the bench), there are as many as 36 players who could score first.
You should be aware that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EPL has expanded to five substitutions and nine bench players per game.
When betting on the EPL first goal scorer, research is key. Does the team you’re betting on score mostly on the counterattack? If so, betting on a striker is the safe play.
What if they build their attack through control of the ball and stringing passes together? Betting on a midfielder to score first could be a wise move.
Are they a team that thrives on set pieces? If so, it could pay off in spades to bet on a fullback to score.
However, in most cases, you should be looking at a striker or attacking mid to score first. Do your homework, know how the team plays, and you automatically better your chances.
