What to Know

With the legalization of sports betting in Tennessee, Action 24/7 aims to provide the best betting options for Tennesseans. To help inform those in the Volunteer State of the betting options they may be unfamiliar with, we’ve put together this series to provide an introduction and overview of how to bet on specific sports.

Tennessee UFC Betting – Local UFC Info

Bridgestone Arena in Nashville has regularly been a host for UFC Fight Night. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, UFC events have been almost exclusively held in Las Vegas. With news of a vaccine on the way, though, it is possible UFC bouts will tour around the country in 2021 as the pandemic subsides.

Some of the prominent UFC fighters from Tennessee include flyweights Joseph “KOMODO JOE” Tran and Keion “The Alpha” Lucas, and most notably Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention retired fighters Muhammed Lawal and Mike Pyle.

Tennessee UFC Betting – How to Bet

The most common type of UFC bet is a bet on the moneyline. Moneyline bets involve picking a fighter to win the match, with differing odds based on how heavily favored, or how big an underdog, the fighter is.

For example, the betting odds on the fight card may read “Fighter A (+250) vs. Fighter B (-340).” In this case, Fighter A is a big underdog (as denoted by the “+” symbol), and Fighter B is a heavy favorite (a “-“ sign will always appear next to the favorite).

A $100 bet on Fighter A would pay $250 if he won the bout, while a bet on the favorite of $340 would scoop $100 if Fighter B won.

Because there are many fights on the card at a given event, another betting option is to bet a “parlay.” In a parlay, you are betting on multiple results to further enhance your winnings.

Usually, you would need to bet anywhere from four to six fights to make your parlay bet, with escalating winnings as each result hits. However, the big risk of a parlay bet is that one loss by a given fighter could cost you the entire bet.

Live betting is another great betting choice, where you can place your bets during the fight based on what you’re watching. If an underdog is starting to connect on significant strikes or getting a number of takedowns, you can make an in-bout live bet to either enhance your winnings or cut your losses.

The most important thing before any bet is doing your homework, researching the fighters, their tendencies, strengths and weaknesses, recent history, and more. Then, when live betting, be decisive and alert, as the odds can change in an instant.
