What to Know

With the legalization of sports betting in Tennessee, Action 24/7 aims to provide the best betting options for Tennesseans. To help inform those in the Volunteer State of the betting options they may be unfamiliar with, we’ve put together this series to provide an introduction and overview of how to bet on specific sports.

The Volunteers compete in 14 NCAA Division I sports, and both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are among the top programs in the country.

Tennessee Volunteers Betting – Vols Football’s Storied History

The University of Tennessee football team has won six national championships, 16 conference championships, and 28 bowl games. Their last national title came in 1998.

Tennessee’s dominance throughout Southeastern Conference (SEC) play has resulted in 24 college football Hall of Famers, and the Volunteers currently have the most home wins of any college football program. Additionally, only 11 college football programs have produced more NFLers than the Volunteers.

Notable alumni include Peyton Manning, Reggie White, Doug Atkins, Jamal Lewis, Eric Berry, and Fuad Reveiz.

Tennessee Volunteers Betting – Look at the Lady Vols

The Lady Vols basketball team is a perennial championship contender and is one of the most dominant programs in women’s college basketball history. The Vols have been national champions eight times, national runners-up five times, and are the only program in the country to make every women’s NCAA Tournament since the first tournament was held in 1982.

In their 36 tournament appearances, the Lady Vols have made 34 Sweet Sixteens and 18 Final Fours.

Famous alumni for the Lady Vols include Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings, and Candace Parker.

One of the greatest coaches in college history, regardless of sport, is the legendary Pat Summitt. Summitt coached the Lady Vols from 1974-2012, with a coaching record of 1,098-208.

She was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. After her passing in 2016 after a battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, the Lady Vols dedicated their home court as “The Summitt” in her honor.

Tennessee Volunteers Betting – Men’s Basketball Building for the Future

While the Tennessee men’s basketball team does not have a national championship under its belt, it has made six Sweet Sixteen appearances since 2000. The Volunteers look to be perennial contenders under head coach Rick Barnes, including a 31-6 record in 2018-19 (the 2019-20 season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

Famous alumni include Bernard King, Dale Ellis, and Allan Houston.

Tennessee Volunteers Betting – Other NCAA Options

Other than those mentioned above, opportunities for betting on the University of Tennessee include wagering on the 17 other varsity sports, including baseball, softball, golf, cross country, soccer, rowing, swimming and diving, track and field, and volleyball.

Former softball pitcher Monica Abbott is the NCAA all-time leader in strikeouts (2,440), wins (189), shutouts (112), and innings pitched (1,448). The track and field team has one men’s and two women’s national championships, and the baseball team has played in the College World Series four times.

No matter your favorite sport, there is always a great betting option for you with the University of Tennessee.
