Nashville, Tenn. – February 9, 2021 – Nashville Police Chief John Drake was honored this week as the recipient of Action 247‘s Action 100, a program to honor Tennesseans taking ACTION in their communities.

John Drake began his law enforcement career in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, as a police officer in 1988, and continues to dedicate himself to the safety of Nashville’s families and visitors. He was named as the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s 8th Chief of Police on November 30, 2020.

On Christmas morning, just 26 days after he took office, a bomb shattered the peace of Drake’s beloved Nashville. Chief Drake did an amazing job managing the Christmas morning bombing emergency. He said in an interview with WSMV Channel 4 “serving as Chief is one of the greatest honors of my life, even when I’m called away on Christmas Day.” “We would like to honor Chief Drake and his team to thank them for taking such good care of our community,” said Tina Hodges, Tennessee Action 24/7 CEO.

Chief Drake’s Action100 funds will be donated to You Have the Power, a non-profit agency whose mission is to empower those victimized by crime through education, advocacy, and understanding. For more information about You Have the Power, visit https://www.yhtp.org/.

In January, 2021, Action 24/7 started its Action 100 program to honor Tennesseans taking ACTION across the Volunteer State. Anyone wishing to submit a nomination can go to action247.com/action100 and nominate someone they know who has been great at making a difference in our Tennessee communities. Twice a month, Action 24/7 will randomly select an honoree and donate $100 to the charity of their choice. The donations will continue throughout 2021. It’s just a small way to recognize those that are taking ACTION to make our communities better.
