After going 2-1 in our parlay on Monday, we took some chances, went against a few trends, and followed a few others to an 0-3 parlay on Tuesday night. However, we are not deterred by our bad Tuesday and are dusting ourselves off and getting back into the game on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Let’s review our betting parlay for Wednesday’s NBA and NHL action and hope for a better betting outcome than Tuesday.
Indiana Pacers +10 Points (-115) over Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are among the favorites to win the Eastern Conference and potentially the NBA championship. All the in-game metrics give the advantage to Boston, who will likely defeat the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. However, ten points is a little bit of a big spread.
The Celtics have a 17-13-1 record against the spread but are 0-4-1 against the spread in the last five games. Boston has covered the spread once in the previous three games with a double-digit point spread in the Celtics’ favor.
Indiana has a 17-13-1 record against the spread and 4-1 against the spread in the last five road games against teams with a .600 or better home winning percentage. The last time the Pacers were the double-digit underdogs on the point spread was Dec. 5, when they were 12.5-point underdogs to the Golden State Warriors and won the game 112-104.
We’ll take Indiana to cover the +10 spread.
New Jersey Devils (+115) over Florida Panthers
The New Jersey Devils may be playing on back-to-back nights and are struggling right now amid a six-game winning streak. However, as we learned by picking the New York Rangers on Tuesday night, streaks are meant to be broken.
Despite the Devils’ recent struggles and the fact that Florida won the first meeting, we’re taking them as the road underdog against a Florida Panthers team that has won two of the last five games and has as close to a .500 record as possible.
While there are seemingly betting layups on the NHL schedule – like Minnesota over Anaheim, we like the value in the Devils’ moneyline and think they win this one straight-up on the moneyline.
Nashville Predators (-189) over Chicago Blackhawks
We expected the Nashville Predators to be bigger moneyline favorites over the Chicago Blackhawks, who are the leading candidates for the first overall pick and franchise player Connor Bedard. While neither team is great this year, Nashville is the better team and should win this game straight-up on the moneyline.
Chicago has lost seven straight games and is averaging below 1 goal per game during the losing streak. Nashville just snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over the Edmonton Oilers. However, Nashville has won four of the last ten games.
The home team is 6-2 in the previous eight meetings between the Predators and Blackhawks, but the Predators hold a 21-7 advantage in the last 28 meetings. We’re taking the Predators over the Blackhawks for a road win as the favorite.
