The NBA and NHL continue to ramp up as we move through the first part of the season. With a few big games scheduled, let’s look at how we think three matches will play out.

Los Angeles Lakers (-3) over San Antonio Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers might be 6-11 but they’re 4-1 in their last five games. Although they’ve been dealing with several injuries, they’ve found a way to win. Most of this is due to Anthony Davis, who has played incredibly well over the last few weeks. He leads the team with 26.3 points per game and has added 12.8 rebounds as well.

The San Antonio Spurs have lost their last seven games, two of which were to the Lakers. Last night, they lost 105-94, failing to cover the spread as well. They’re a team that has a 3-7 record at home and averages just 109.3 points per game. With the trouble they’ve had against the Lakers, we’ll go with Los Angeles in tonight’s game.

Phoenix Suns (-6.5) over Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are the road team in this game against the Phoenix Suns. On the road this season, the Jazz have a record of 6-7. Ranked sixth in the Western Conference, they have an overall record of 12-9 this season. Leading the team in points is Lauri Markkanen, who averages 22.0 points per game.

The Phoenix Suns have a record of 12-6 and are 10-1 at home this season. Devin Booker is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 27.1 points per game. Although Chris Paul and Landry Shamet are still out, they should be able to win this game. Since they just beat the Los Angeles Lakers by 10 points, they should also be able to cover.

Vegas Golden Knights (-189) over Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks come into this game off a win over the Colorado Avalanche. This win brought their record to 7-10-3 on the season with a 4-6-2 record on the road. Tonight, they’ll face a familiar foe in the Vegas Golden Knights. Allowing an average of 3.90 goals per game, this team could be in trouble this evening.

The Vegas Golden Knights have a 16-5-1 record and are 7-4-0 at home. They’ve won three of their last five games with their most recent game being a loss. Although they suffered a loss at home to the Seattle Kraken, we expect them to bounce back. Their defense is one of the best in the league, allowing just 2.55 goals per game.
