The NFL is heading into Week 14, and things are heating up in the playoff race. As we near the end of the regular season, let’s take a look at a few games that could make a significant impact.
Detroit Lions (-2) over Minnesota Vikings
The first game we’re going to go over is an NFC North matchup. This is a huge game for the Minnesota Vikings, who can clinch the division with a win.
However, their defense has struggled when it comes to allowing their opponents to march down the field. This weekend, their defense might actually be broken by the Detroit Lions.
One thing that is important to remember is the Lions are 4-1 in their last five games. They’re coming off a huge 40-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
With an offense that averages 26.3 points per game, we’re not surprised that they’re favored. Look for the Lions to pull off a win at home over Minnesota.
Philadelphia Eagles (-7) over New York Giants
In our opinion, the Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in the NFL. Not only do they have an incredible offense, but they have a strong defense as well.
This season, the Eagles are averaging 28.2 points per game which is an impressive feat. Their defense is doing even better, allowing just 18.8 points per game.
This is the first time that the New York Giants have played the Philadelphia Eagles. Although they recently had a very strong record, they’ve taken a step back.
Over the last five games, the Giants have a record of 1-3-1. In this time, they lost 27-13 to the Seattle Seahawks and 31-18 to the Detroit Lions. We think the Eagles are the much better choice in this game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.5) over San Francisco 49ers
This game is likely to be an entertaining one as Tom Brady takes the field. Over their last five games, Brady has led the Buccaneers to a 3-2 record.
His most recent game was a 17-16 win over the New Orleans Saints. Now, he’s on the road facing one of the best defenses in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers suffered some awful news this week. Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will miss significant time, which leaves them with Brock Purdy.
This isn’t too much of a problem, though, as Purdy led them to a victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Buccaneers’ defense, however, could get the better of Purdy here.
