Action247 Same-Game NHL Parlay for Dec. 22, 2022

While we had a rough start to our week of parlay picks, going 2-1 on Monday and 0-3 on Tuesday, we went 3-0 in our parlay was a winner yesterday, thanks to the Indiana Pacers covering +10 points, the Nashville Predators, and New Jersey Devils.

However, today we’re going to test our luck and make our parlay from a single game. For that game, we turn to the NHL and the Metropolitan Division, where the Pittsburgh Penguins host the division-leading Carolina Hurricanes, with both teams playing excellent hockey.

Go big or go home, right?

Carolina Hurricanes (-105) over Pittsburgh Penguins

penguins vs hurricanes nhl bettingThe Carolina Hurricanes are the third-ranked team in the NHL, lead the Metropolitan Division, are on a six-game winning streak, and have won ten of the last 11 games.

Yet, the Hurricanes (-105) are the moneyline underdog against the Penguins (-130). Moreover, the Hurricanes have won both games this season by a 3-2 score and are 5-1 in the last six head-to-head matchups.

Pittsburgh has won four of the last five games and eight of the last ten. The Penguins are playing great hockey, but the Hurricanes are among the hottest teams in the NHL and have momentum behind Pyotr Kochetkov taking control of the net and being excellent in the process (10-1-4, 1,94 GAA, 928 SV%).

Yes, Pittsburgh just ended the New York Rangers’ streak, and the favorite is 15-6 in the last 21 games, but the Carolina Hurricanes are showing why they were preseason favorites to win the Stanley Cup and will win this game outright.

Carolina Hurricanes +1.5 (-250) over Pittsburgh Penguins

penguins vs hurricanes nhl bettingNeither team has been great against the spread this season, with the Hurricanes having a 13-19 ATS record while the Penguins are 15-17 ATS.

However, with the Hurricanes at +1.5 and our pick to win outright, it only makes sense to double down on the Hurricanes and take them to cover the spread.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Under 5.5 (-105)

penguins vs hurricanes nhl bettingAs mentioned, the first two meetings between the Hurricanes and Penguins ended with a total of five goals scored in each game. When you look at recent trends, the Hurricanes and Penguins hit the under more often than not, regardless of the competition.

The under is 7-0-2 in Pittsburgh’s last nine games against the Eastern Conference and 5-0-2 in the previous seven games overall. The under is 5-0 in Carolina’s last five games against Metropolitan Division rivals and 8-0 against Eastern Conference competition. The Hurricanes have an 11-20 over/under record, while the Penguins are 13-17 over/under.

We could go on about the different trends, but we’ll stop and just tell you to take the under to complete our single-game parlay.
