Action247 Same-Game Parlay for April 11, 2023

Yesterday, we only had the NHL to work with and built a multi-game parlay based on games with playoff implications. We took all favorites who were in actual must-win territory.

When in must-win territory, you have to win. After last night, we wonder if the NHL can change the playoff format because two teams competing for final wild-card spots can’t win in must-win situations.

With their seasons hanging in the balance, the Florida Panthers lost in overtime 2-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs, while the New York Islanders lost to the Washington Capitals. At least the Dallas Stars know how to win when it matters, smashing the Detroit Red Wings 6-1.

With our parlay loss, we drop to 0-2 on our weekly parlays and 2-4 on individual picks. We’ve abandoned our hopes of regaining the parlay blog betting championship but look to the NBA’s play-in tournament for today’s same-game parlay.

Los Angeles Lakers over Minnesota Timberwolves (-345)

We’ll take the layup; let’s hope it bounces in.

Considering the suspension of Rudy Gobert, the moneyline odds will only grow in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers have won four of the last five games and eight of the previous ten games, while the Timberwolves have won three straight games and are 7-3 in the previous ten games.

Head-to-head, the Timberwolves have won two of the three games this season. However, the Lakers won the most recent matchup 123-11 with a full-roster on March 31.

We’re not betting against LeBron James in a one-game showdown on home court.

Take the Lakers for leg one.

Minnesota Timberwolves +8 over Los Angeles Lakers (-110)

Minnesota is 40-42 ats, while Los Angeles is 40-41-1 ats. In the three games this season, the spread has been covered by the favorite in all three games. The Lakers are 2-0 when facing a spread of 7.5 – 9.5 points as the favorite, while the Timberwolves are 3-4-0 as the underdog.

However, this is the post-season, and we expect this game to still be close in the fourth quarter.

The Timberwolves should keep this within eight points.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers under 231.0 (-110)

Again this is the playoffs, and we don’t expect to see a game dominated by quick break transitions; we expect a more systematic approach considering the stakes.

Moreover, in the three meetings this season, Minnesota and Los Angeles have hit the under by a wide margin in two games while hitting the over by 2.5 points in the Lakers’ win on March 31. The Timberwolves are 38-43-1 over/under, while the Lakers are 43-38-1 over/under this season.

We’re taking the under, but expect the total to get close to 230 points.
