NFL Wild Card weekend is over, with the Dallas Cowboys defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That brings us to 2-1 on our NFL parlay. As for yesterday, we struck out spectacularly, with the Grizzlies covering a -10.5 spread with ease, while the Toronto Raptors upset the New York Knicks in overtime, and the Buffalo Sabres didn’t really get going against the Florida Panthers.

With an 0-2 start and 2-4 in our individual picks overall, we’re returning to a same-game parlay, where we hit on a successful parlay. And we’re returning to the NHL, looking for a much-needed win.

Toronto Maple Leafs over Florida Panthers (-175)

The Florida Panthers make their second consecutive appearance in our daily parlay. This means they are playing on back-to-back nights and have the very difficult task of playing the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are tied for fourth overall in the NHL.

Toronto has lost two straight games and is 5-5 in the last ten games, while Florida has won two straight games but has won three of the last five games and six of the last ten.

Notably, the Panthers are 0-4 in their last four games playing on back-to-back days, are 1-8 in the last nine games in Toronto, and will likely be relying on Sergei Bobrovsky for a second straight game with Spencer Knight on the injury report.

This should be an easy moneyline victory for the Maple Leafs, who are the better team overall. Moreover, the home team is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings. We’re taking the Maple Leafs.

Toronto Maple Leafs to cover -1.5 over Florida Panthers (+125)

Florida’s scoring has been up recently, but we aren’t confident they’ll have the same success against the Maple Leafs that they did against the Buffalo Sabres.

Toronto is the significantly better defensive team, ranked sixth overall, giving up 2.6 goals per game. Both teams are averaging 3.3 goals per game, but a rested Leafs’ squad will be looking to take advantage of the Panthers and get back on the winning path.

Neither team has been great against the spread this season, with Florida having a 15-30 ats record and Toronto having an 18-26 record ats. However, the Leafs should cover the spread and win by a two-goal margin.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers Over 6.5 (-130)

The over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings and 5-1-1 in the last seven. However, the under is 5-0 in the last five games following a Florida win and 5-1-1 in the Panthers’ last seven road games. Regardless of who starts in the net for either team, the advantage should go to Toronto.

But with the Panthers playing on back-to-back nights, we expect Toronto to take advantage of this and will do their part to hit the over, while the Panthers will get two or three goals to help reach the number.
