Action247 Same-Game Parlay for January 21, 2023

As we wait for the NFL Divisional to play out to see how our NFL parlay for this week will go, we’ve got a heavy schedule in the NBA and NHL to pick Saturday’s same-game parlay.

Rather than returning to the hardwood and the sight of our last same-game parlay, we’re hitting returning to the ice – the last place we had a successful same-game parlay.

We’re looking to improve our record this week, which currently stands at 1-4 on parlays and 7-9 overall on individual picks and riding with the Carolina Hurricanes to get us a big win to close out the week.

Carolina Hurricanes over New York Islanders (-164)

islanders vs hurricanes nhl bettingThe Carolina Hurricanes (28-9-8) sit atop the Metropolitan Division, while the Islanders (23-19-5) are setting sixth overall. The Hurricanes have won three of the last four games and are 5-5 in the last ten games. The Islanders have lost three games in a row and are 2-8 in the last ten games.

Statistically, Carolina and New York both give up 2.7 goals per game, while the Hurricanes average 3.2 per game compared to the Islanders’ 3.0. The only other statistical advantage sides with the Islanders, who have the better penalty kill stats.

These two teams have split the previous two games head-to-head, but Carolina has put together a much better season since the Islanders beat them back in October. The road team is 4-0 in the last four games, while the Hurricanes are 11-2 in the last 13 matchups.

Take the Hurricanes – a Stanley Cup favorite – to defeat the Islanders, who are struggling to get a win.

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 over New York Islanders (+145)

islanders vs hurricanes nhl bettingThe Islanders have a 24-23 ats record, while the Hurricanes are 18-27 ats. Both previous meetings ended with at least a 1.5-goal spread. The Islanders might have lost their last three games, but each game has been a one-goal game.

The Islanders struggle to score in general and will struggle to score against Carolina’s goaltending and defense – which gives up the fewest shots in the league, while the Hurricanes’ offensive production is up, averaging 3.8 goals per game in the last five games.

We’re going against the grain with this pick and going all in on the Carolina Hurricanes. Take the Hurricanes -1.5.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Islanders – Over 5.5 (-115)

islanders vs hurricanes nhl bettingConsidering that most NHL games are listed at six or 6.5 goals, this total goals line is set very low. The over is 7-1 in the Hurricanes’ last eight games against the Metropolitan Division and 8-1 overall. Moreover, the over is 5-0 in the Hurricanes’ last five games on the road.

However, the Islanders are among the lower-scoring teams in the league (24th overall) and have hit the under in four of the last five games and eight of the last ten. The Islanders are averaging 1.8 goals per game in the last five games.

We think the Hurricanes will this game by a 4-2 score, just hitting the over.
