Sometimes you can analyze the stats and trends, feel good about your picks, and think a big parlay win is in the cards.
Sometimes those self-destruct one after another, leaving you to wonder about what you’ve seen up to that point which led you to such erroneous picks. That’s where we find ourselves after going 0-3 on individual picks last night.
We selected the Florida Panthers to win and eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs, which the Cats did not do, losing 2-1. In the second leg of our parlay, we appealed to Kings of the Over to hit the over, but while the McDavids of the North did win, they won 4-1 and hit the under.
The third leg of our parlay was the most painful: we picked the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers to hit the under of 226.5, but just barely. The Warriors won 121 to 106 for a total of 227 points, meaning the Lakers and Warriors hit the over – just barely.
With an 0-4 record on parlays and a 5-7 record on individual picks, we return to the same-game parlay to regain our parlay blog championship!
Philadelphia 76ers over Boston Celtics (+115)
Philly has a 32-12 home record, while the Celtics have a 28-18 road record.
Boston holds a 5-4 edge in head-to-head competition this season. The home team has won five of the nine meetings this season. The season series is split 2-2 in Philadelphia.
However, after game five, we have no confidence in the Celtics to show up in a big moment like an elimination game on the road. We’re taking the 76ers to win on the moneyline as our first pick in our same-game parlay.
Philadelphia 76ers +2.5 over Boston Celtics (-105)
Boston has a 51-41-1 ats record, while Philly has a 54-36-1 record.
The Celtics might be 7-3 ats in the previous ten meetings, but we’re taking the 76ers to win on the moneyline. The 76ers will need to cover the spread to win on the moneyline.
We’re taking the 76ers to cover the +2.5-point spread.
Boston Celtics versus Philadelphia 76ers Over 212.5 (-110)
The over is 4-1 in the previous five meetings and 6-2 in the last eight games in Philly.
The over is 5-4 in the nine head-to-head matchups between these teams.
The 76ers are averaging 107.8 ppg in this series, while the Celtics are averaging 113.6 ppg. This game with hit the under only if the 76ers have another poor night, like in game two.
We’re taking the 76ers and Celtics to hit the over of 212.5 total points.
