AP Poll Top 25 Other Notable Movers this Week

Associated Press AP Poll Top 25 Update

The newly minted AP Top 25 poll is now out for men’s college basketball, and there was quite a bit of movement within the poll.

Below we take a look at the movers and the teams who fell. This is a poll where not a ton of movement happened overall.

What Other Notable Moves Were Made This Week?

There was not a ton of movement this week, and only two new teams entered the Top 25. Ohio State entered the Top 25 once again at #21, and LSU moved up to #25 in the country.

Other than that, BYU and Florida saw great drops in their rankings. Florida moved from #14 all the way down to #20 with a loss. BYU dropped from #12 all the way to #24 after a big upset loss.

USC moved up four spots, and maybe the most surprising team to enter into the poll has been Iowa State as they moved up two more spots to #17. There really was not a ton of movement this week in the poll. Just a few teams shuffling in and out of their spots.

I would look for next week to present a little more action as teams start getting into conference play.

Who is on the Outside?

The following teams received votes and are looking to make their way into the Top 25 quickly: Colorado St. (90), Xavier (78), Illinois (71), North Carolina (55), St. Bonaventure (37), Oklahoma (29), Memphis (14), Iowa (12), Michigan (11), San Francisco (10), Loyola Chicago (4), Indiana (3), and Texas Tech (2).

These teams are the teams who are next in line if a team within the Top 25 drops a game. Look for Colorado State to have a big week and have a good chance to move into the rankings. As these teams start conference play, the teams will start to cannibalize themselves a little.
