NCAA Basketball Associated Press Top 25 Update
The AP Top 25 poll for men’s college basketball is officially available. There was a lot of movement this week compared to previous weeks, and we have our first back-to-back week of change at the top since Baylor took over the top spot six weeks ago.
There was also quite a bit of movement within the Top 10, and we also saw some big drops, and two new programs entered the fray this week. We take a look at all of that and more below in this week’s AP Poll Top 25 Update.
Auburn is the new top team in this week’s AP Poll, and it is the first time in their school history that they have reached #1. They had a big win against Kentucky this week to propel themselves into the AP Poll #1 slot. They overtook Gonzaga as they fell slightly even after not taking a loss last week.
Auburn was only four points behind Gonzaga last week and actually had more first-place votes than Gonzaga as Auburn had 36 votes for first place, and Gonzaga had 25. Auburn received 36 first-place votes this week, which gave them the points lead over Gonzaga by 29 points. Auburn has shown themselves to be a very tough team to beat this year, and they are going to look to hold the top spot down for a while.
