Boston Celtics Travel to Memphis to Face the Grizzlies

We can imagine since it’s the last game before the start of the playoffs, a few players will sit. We aren’t sure yet of exactly which ones will be out, but Jayson Tatum could be one of them.

The good news for the Celtics is they have quite the roster and a lot of talented players. Getting a win before the end of the year would be a boost to morale; they’re facing a tough team, though. 

The Memphis Grizzlies will likely do the same thing as the other teams in the playoffs already. By this, we mean resting players to avoid injuries or fatigue. Memphis already has the No.2 spot in the Western Conference, similar to the Boston Celtics in the East.

Still, Memphis’ bench has some great players on it, so this game could be fun to watch. Let’s make our picks for this one.

The tale of the tape on the surface of this game is two great offenses. The Celtics rank 13th in the NBA in points per game, averaging 111.23 per game.

However, one thing that we can’t forget is that the Celtics also possess the No.1 defense. No team in the NBA has a better defense than Boston when it comes to points allowed. On average, they only give up 104.25.

The Memphis Grizzlies will look to test their own high-powered offense against the Celtics. As an offense, the Grizzlies average 115.45 points per game, ranking second in the NBA. However, if Ja Morant is sidelined, this offense could plummet.

Without him, they’d lose their best scorer, a player that averages 27.6 points per game. So, between these two teams, who’s the better bet? 

Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies Betting Prediction

These two teams faced early last month when each team was at full strength. Many thought that the Grizzlies would come into the game as favorites but, in fact, were underdogs.

Although they were only favored by two points, the Celtics were favored because of their defense. When they hosted the Grizzlies, they had their chance to showcase the No.1 defense in the entire NBA.

The high-powered offense of the Grizzlies was no match for Boston’s defense. The Celtics won the game, 120-107, easily covering the spread. Now, the Celtics have to travel to Memphis, but we expect a similar outcome.

Even with some of their starting players sidelined, Boston has the best chance to win and cover. We’ll take Boston to win this game on the road to close the year.

In terms of betting on the total, the last game between these two teams went over the total set. This time, with certain players out of the lineup and other injuries, we think it’ll go under. The total has gone under in three of Memphis’ last five games.
