NFL Preseason Week 2 Recap

We had several impressive games during the second week of preseason football in the NFL. Today, we’re going to take a look at a few games that stuck out to us, along with a few players. We’ll also look at a few teams that failed to cover the spread during Week 2.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Tennessee Titans (13-3 Titans)

It’s important to keep in mind that although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost, they had most of their starters out. Still, scoring only three points all game could be signs of offensive trouble in the future.

The team had only 174 yards of total offense and turned the ball over twice. Tennessee owned the time of possession, and the Buccaneers earned just nine first downs.

The credit for all the trouble that Tampa Bay had on offense could go to the Tennessee Titans’ defense. They pressured the quarterbacks and make the entire game uncomfortable for them.

Offensively, the Titans stuck to the game plan they always use and rely on rushing the ball. Of their 255 total yards, 138 were on the ground. Rookie QB Malik Willis added 42 himself.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Minnesota Vikings (17-7 49ers)

The final game that received a lot of attention was the San Francisco 49ers against the Minnesota Vikings. The 49ers played a strong offensive game, earning 344 total yards.

They owned the time of possession, holding the ball for 37:45 minutes. Although their offense was impressive, we need to state that their defense also forced three turnovers.

One of the reasons why this game received so much attention is Minnesota’s quarterback situation. Neither of the quarterbacks that they have on the roster is a viable option at QB2.

Kellen Mond went 10 for 20, throwing 82 yards and two interceptions. The teams scored just seven points and only earned 195 total yards. It was a bad showing for the Minnesota Vikings.
