Buffalo Bills Preseason Outlook for 21-22 Season

The Buffalo Bills are coming off their most successful season since the 90’s, going 13-3 and advancing all the way to the AFC Championship game. The Bills have made the postseason three out of the last four years under head coach Sean McDermott, and they’re expected to be a top contender once more in 2021. 

The 2020 Bills were a good team to bet on in the NFL, going 11-5 against the spread, and 10-5-1 when it came to over/unders. They started out the regular season winning their first four games, and finished off the campaign with six straight wins entering the playoffs with momentum.

In free agency, the Bills lost wide receivers John Brown, Andre Roberts, and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson to free agency. Buffalo did however add veteran WR Emmanuel Sanders, who’s been to three Super Bowls and has three 1,000 yard seasons under his belt. The Bills also added a new punter in the offseason, signing former Miami Dolphin Matt Haack to a three-year deal. 

2020 Pro Bowlers Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Tremaine Edmunds, and Tre’Davious White remain on the Bills so the main core of the team remains intact. 

Josh Allen is expected to be even better coming off a breakout season where he finished with over 4,500 yards throwing and 37 passing touchdowns. That earned Allen a six-year extension worth $258 million, with $150 million of it guaranteed. 

Massive contracts like this add pressure to quarterbacks, but Allen has great offensive weapons, and a defense that may bend but doesn’t break.
