Carolina Panthers Betting Odds 21-22 Season

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a 5-11 season under first year head coach Matt Rhule. It was the beginning of a new era, with former stars such as Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly all gone. Star running back Christian McCaffrey only played in three games in 2020, battling injuries all season long. 

Despite the Panthers lackluster record, they were actually decent against the spread, going 9-7 on the year. When it came to totals, Carolina wasn’t the best team to place bets on, as they only went 6-10 on over/unders.

Sam Darnold will be the Panthers quarterback in 2021, as the Panthers traded three draft picks for the former number one overall pick in the offseason. Darnold will have more help on offense than he did in New York, with McCaffrey, Robby Anderson, and D.J. Moore at his disposal. Both Anderson and Moore are coming off 1,000 yard seasons, and make one of the best 1-2 punches at the receiver position. Carolina also added slot receiver David Moore in free agency as well, and drafted Oklahoma State standout RB Chuba Hubbard in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Hubbard was named the Big-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, and will help take the load and pressure off of McCaffrey. 

Defensively is where the Panthers really struggled as a team in 2020, but they added a lot of talent to improve this year’s roster. Linebackers Haason Reddick and Denzel Perryman joined the Panthers in the offseason, and so did corners A.J. Bouye and Rashaan Melvin. 

Action 247 Sportsbook has the Panthers over/under for wins this season set at 7.5. Carolina is +1100 to win the NFC South, and are listed at +7900 to win Super Bowl 56. Only the Eagles and Jets are bigger longshots to hold the Lombardi trophy this season.
