Four Great Football Picks for Thanksgiving Day

Thursday, November 25, 2021

Happy Thanksgiving, fellow degenerates! They say this day is all about family, but we all know it’s really about football. What better way to get out of listening to your uncle’s political rant than by gluing yourself to the TV? That is the true meaning of Thanksgiving, afterall. We’ve got four winners to get into. Let’s ride.

Detroit Lions +3.5 vs. Chicago Bears

The poor Lions just can’t seem to get it done, can they? They have a point total margin of -3 in their last two games, but no wins to show for it. Winless record aside, this team fights like hell for their coach. Which is not something that can be said for their thanksgiving opponent. The Bears, or at least their fans, seem to have given up on their head coach. And who can blame them? The once promising tenure of Matt Nagy has gone down the tubes. “Fire Nagy” chants have broken out at Chicago (both Bears and Bulls) games. I haven’t seen something like that since the “Fire Butch” chants erupting at Vols football and basketball games. Chicago is downright bad and this is one of the last winnable games on Detroit’s schedule. Da Bears can’t win games or cover a spread lately. They are 1-4 ATS in their last five games, and they struggle even more on short rest. They have only covered five of their last 17 games on a Thursday. This is the Lions Super Bowl. They smell blood and will leave it all on the field for their first win. Back the fighting Dan Campbell’s.

Dallas Cowboys -7.5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

This is a case of two teams trending in the opposite direction. The Cowboys are a really good team coming off of a loss, and the Raiders are an overachieving team who are crashing back to Earth. The Raiders off the field issues are well known, so a collapse was to be expected. Dallas is coming off a loss where they failed to reach the end zone, so they should be gunning to put up as many points as possible here. The last time they lost a game they responded with a 43-3 ass kicking of the Atlanta Falcons. Unfortunately for Vegas, they might share a similar fate. The Cowboys have covered their last four games after a SU loss. Vegas also tends to struggle away from home. They are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. I really don’t see how the Raiders can keep this one close. Dallas is pissed off and looking to make a statement on a national stage. This one could get ugly.

Mississippi State ML vs. Ole Miss

Ah the Egg Bowl. One of the most entertaining rivalries in college football. This rivalry goes back and forth, mainly because the home team tends to win. And what do ya know, this edition happens to be in Starkville. Speaking of road struggles, Ole Miss brings a disappointing 3-10 record in their last 13 road games into this matchup. They also have had a difficult time covering against their arch nemesis. They have only covered once in the last five years of this rivalry. Mississippi state, on the other hand, has been very kind to gamblers. They are currently on a five game covering streak. Both of these teams are good, but the Bulldogs are the more complete team. This will probably be the most entertaining game of the day, but I like State to come out on top.

New Orleans Saints +6.5 vs. Buffalo Bills

I don’t know about you, but the Bills seem broken to me. Aside from creaming the Jets (big accomplishment), they have looked pretty bad since losing to the Titans. Buffalo is just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games, and I don’t anticipate a bounce-back game here. New Orleans has been quite a difficult matchup for the Bills lately. They have failed to record a SU or ATS win in the last five games against the Saints. New Orleans also is also dangerous when facing better teams, going 8-1-1 ATS as an underdog. Sean Payton has this injury-ridden team playing some solid ball, and the Bills just can’t seem to get their act together. The Superdome is a tough place to play, so I’m backing the Saints to put on a show.

Your family will probably be disappointed in you for being locked into football all day, but don’t let that stop you from making money. These are winners. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Except your bookie.
