Best Bets for Week 5 Buffalo +7, Pittsburgh -3, and Fresno State -10.5

Don’t look now, but we’re already at Week 5 of this glorious college football season. So far, everyone appears beatable, and chaos has already started to ensue. We’re coming off of a mini bounce back week, but I know we can do better. I’ve got my three locks along with eight other winners ready to go. Let’s get into it. 

Buffalo +7 vs. Western Michigan 

It’s not quite Tuesday night MACtion, but it’s close. These two teams kick off their conference play this Saturday from UB stadium. This is a matchup Western Michigan has been controlling lately, going 7-2 straight up in the last nine meetings. However, they have struggled to cover the spread. In those nine games, Buffalo has covered six of them. They have also covered 14 of their last 19 games overall. Not to mention the Bulls are covering machines at home. They are currently riding a 10 game winning streak ATS on their home turf. Western is coming off of back-to-back impressive wins, so I think they are due for a close game on the road. Buffalo screwed us last week so they owe us one. Back the Bulls to cover at home. 

Pittsburgh -3 vs. Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech is on an impressive little run right now. In the last two weeks they have beat Clemson and UNC, but I’m not buying into the hype. I think both of those teams are pretty overrated. Clemson has proved they aren’t anything special and North Carolina isn’t exactly off to a hot start, either. Pitt, on the other hand, has been lighting up the scoreboard, scoring 210 points on their way to a 3-1 start. The Panthers are 5-1 SU in the last six games against the Yellow Jackets. They have covered four of those six, as well. Tech has only managed to cover half of their last 10 home games, so I’m looking for Pitt to continue their impressive season. The Panthers could very well run away with this one. 

Fresno State -10.5 vs. Hawaii 

Bust out your PJ’s, because we’ve got some PAC 12 after dark. I love Fresno in this spot. They are far and away better than Hawaii and are coming off a close win against an inferior UNLV team, so they should be ready to come out hot against a Hawaii team they have had no problems with. Fresno is 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 games against Hawaii. They have also won five straight in Honolulu, so they clearly aren’t phased by the long flight out to the island. They should have no problem against this team who has only covered once as an underdog in their last 10 games. Take Fresno with confidence.
