CYB Ian Davis: PGA Sony Open Recap

Recap on the PGA’s Sony Open 2022

The Sony Open came down to a duel between Hideki Matsuyama and Russell Henley. On the first playoff hole, Hideki piped a fairway wood to about 5 feet to win outright. (A nice +2000 winner to start the year if you had him.) Matsuyama has now won three of his last eight starts, including last year’s Masters.

We had an up and down ride with last week’s picks. 1-1 with a nonwinner as well.

Harman Top 20 – Loss

Harman made the cut on the number and battled all week. But a 69-68 didn’t move him up the leaderboard as we hoped. He finished T48, five strokes outside the Top 20.

Kisner over Na –  +110 Win

Na jumped out to the early lead with an opening round 61, but a second-round 71 opened the door for Kisner. Kisner started rolling putts in from all over the island and finished the weekend with a 65-64 finish on Sunday T3. Na couldn’t find the magic he found on Thursday and finished 67-68 T20.

Webb Simpson to win – Loss

Webb was one of the more disappointing players for all bettors that believed in him. He finished T61 – his worst finish at this tournament in 10 years.
