Bad Beat of the week

CYB NFL Bad Beat Cowboys vs Patriots

Hurts to be a Patriots Fan this Year

Our bad beat of the week comes from the NFL this week. More specifically, Gillette Stadium in New England. I apologize to Patriots +3.5 bettors for bringing this up again. After getting your heart ripped out multiple times in that game, this probably won’t be an easy read. We’ve all been there before.

For most of the game, this seemed to be the right side to bet. Even after allowing a game tying field goal as time expired, New England still won the coin toss to start overtime. But we’ll get to overtime later. For this we will be starting about two minutes before regulation expired.

Pats backers were probably sitting pretty with about two and a half minutes left in the fourth, and rightfully so. New England was covering almost the entire game and they had the lead with only a couple minutes left. All they had to do was not do anything stupid and they were golden.

Unfortunately, something stupid happened. Trevon Diggs intercepted a Mac Jones pass and ran it back 42 yards for a touchdown. The Cowboys went for two but did not get it. Dallas was up 26-21. Things were looking grim for the Pats, but they weren’t out of the woods yet.

On the first play of the ensuing drive, Jones went right at Diggs again. This time receiver Kendrick Bourne took it 75 yards to the house. New England converted the two-point try to make it 29-26 with 2:11 left. Patriots bettors are sitting pretty again.

Unfortunately, Dak Prescott and company had other ideas. Dallas drove 40 yards to the New England 31 yard line with 20 seconds left. Greg “The Leg” Zeurelin knocked home a 49 yarder with virtually no time left. Onto overtime they went.

Like I said, New England won the coin toss to start OT. Pats bettors were sitting pretty again. Just go down and score and the game is over. Well they only managed to convert one first down before being forced to punt. Now the bettors, who were pretty confident all game, were starting to sweat.

Dallas got the ball at their own 20 and worked their way down to the Patriot 35. Then Prescott hit receiver CeeDee Lamb in the corner of the endzone for the win and the cover.

On one side, a thrilling win for Cowboys bettors. On the other side, a devastating loss for Pats bettors. A spread that New England covered for almost the whole game was gone. My condolences for anyone I made angry again by bringing up this game again. It happens to the best of us.
