Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on April 26th. Today, we’re taking a closer look at six games from MLB and the NBA Playoffs, along with a battle for the final NHL playoff spot.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat – 7:00 PM ET
Kicking off our daily rundown is the Atlanta Hawks against the Miami Heat. At the moment, Miami leads the series 3-1, putting the Hawks on the verge of elimination. The only way Atlanta can win now is by winning three straight games. Going up against the defense of Miami is going to be tough, especially with Miami at home.
The Heat will be without Kyle Lowry again tonight, which could be a problem. Lowry is responsible for guarding Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. Without Lowry, the defense of the Heat is significantly weaker. Still, Miami won the first two games at home which should give them enough of an advantage here.
Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins – 7:40 PM ET
Switching over to Major League Baseball, the Detroit Tigers face the Minnesota Twins today. Detroit is 6-9 this season, while the Twins have improved to 8-8. Two winless pitchers will take the mound today in Eduardo Rodriguez and Chris Paddack.
The Twins were able to sweep the White Sox in a recent series, three wins they desperately needed. Led by Byron Buxton, the Twins have won four out of their last five games. Unfortunately for the Twins, Paddack is 0-2 this year with an ERA of 5.00. Paddack could be the reason they lose tonight.
Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers – 8:05 PM ET
The Astros lost the first game of this series 6-2 and will look to bounce back tonight. However, the 0-2 Jake Odorizzi won’t give them the best chance of winning. The batters of the Astros have been slightly lackluster this season, currently batting .211. With such poor batting, it’s surprising the Moneyline is even in this game.
The Rangers, 6-10 this season, have a 2-5 record at home. Although the Rangers are under .500, they’ve won four of their last five games. Today, they’re in the same position as the Astros where one of their worst pitchers will take the mound. Taylor Hearn, 0-1 this season with an ERA of 7.59 will take the mound first.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40 PM ET
The Dodgers are 12-4 this season and frankly look unstoppable right now. In the first game of the series between these two, the Dodgers won 4-0. Today, with Tony Gonsolin on the mound, they’ll look to secure their second win of the series. With the batting of the Diamondbacks being so poor, the Dodgers should pull it off.
There are a lot of injured players for the Diamondbacks, which could be a reason for their struggles lately. Still, one of their better pitchers, Zach Davies, will get the start for them tonight. If Davies can stave off the batters of the Dodgers, he could give Arizona a chance to win.
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Phoenix Suns – 10:00 PM ET
Rounding out our daily rundown is the New Orleans Pelicans at Phoenix Suns. Although some believed this would be a quick series, the Pelicans are fighting to gain control. The series is tied at 2-2, with Game 5 tonight. New Orleans pulled off an impressive 15-point win over the Suns in Game 4. They’ll look to repeat the same performance in tonight’s game.
Part of the reason why the Suns lost a few games is they’re missing Devin Booker. Booker went out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury on April 21st. Without Booker, the Suns find themselves in a tough position tonight. Still, they’re at home where they have a 32-9 record this season, so they still have an advantage.
Vegas Golden Knights vs Dallas Stars
If you’re a hockey fan, this is an absolute must-watch game. Vegas is fighting to keep it’s season alive while Dallas is hoping to move out of the second Wild Card spot, thus avoiding a first-round matchup with the Colorado Avalanche. A regulation win for the Stars would end the Golden Knights’ season.
Vegas goaltender Robin Lehner is done for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery. The Stars should take this one and clinch a playoff berth, making the moneyline the play here.
