Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 28. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from the MLB and the NHL.

Texas Rangers vs. Oakland Athletics – 4:07 PM ET

Kicking off our daily sports bets we’ll see the Texas Rangers face the Oakland Athletics. The Rangers, currently 21-23, have won the last two games against the Athletics. The most recent win was an 8-5 victory, handing the Athletics another home loss. On the mound tonight is Taylor Hearn, who has gone 2-3 this season with an ERA of 5.77.

The Athletics are on a home losing streak, bringing their record to 19-26. Although they have some strong players, they haven’t been able to successfully win games. They’ll hope to change that tonight when they start Zach Logue, who also has a 2-3 record. However, Logue has a much better ERA of 4.43. We’ll take the Athletics to break their home losing streak today.

Colorado Rockies vs. Washington Nationals – 7:05 PM ET

The Colorado Rockies have lost four of their last five games. At the moment, they have a record of 20-24 and have fallen further down in the NL West. The strange part is that the Rockies have an incredible batting average at .261. However, this batting average hasn’t led to very many wins lately. The 2-4 Austin Gomber will get the start on the mound this evening.

The Washington Nationals are 7-17 when playing at home this season. With an overall record of 16-30, things aren’t looking up for Washington. They did, however, beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 yesterday. Aaron Sanchez will take the mound for the Nationals today, Sanchez has a record of 3-3 this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 7:15 PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers have the best record in the NL West at 31-14. On the road, they have a record of 16-9 and will start Tony Gonsolin. Gonsolin has a record of 4-0 this season with an impressive ERA of 1.62. Through their last five games, the Dodgers have only lost one. Yesterday, they beat the Diamondbacks 6-4, and the day prior they won 14-1.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have one of the worst batting averages in MLB. At .217, it should be no surprise that they come in as +150 underdogs. Tasked to stop the Dodgers batters tonight is Merrill Kelly, who has a 3-2 record as a starter. Kelly has an ERA of 3.49, which is a strong ERA even compared to Gonsolin. Still, we’ll take the Dodgers to win again tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers – 8:00 PM ET

The Hurricanes currently lead this series 3-2 over the New York Rangers. On Thursday, the Hurricanes sealed a 3-1 victory and took the lead in the series. Now, with the Rangers facing elimination, the Hurricanes will look to end the series tonight. This will be a tough task considering the Rangers’ resilience.

Furthermore, the Hurricanes haven’t won a single game on the road in the playoffs. This is a big advantage for the Rangers tonight. New York fell short in the latest game, but returning home should give them a morale boost. It’s also important to note that Carolina has LW Jordan Martinook and Frederik Andersen listed as questionable.

We’ll go with the Rangers at -115.

Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners – 10:10 PM ET

One of the last games of the night is between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners. The Astros are first in the AL West with a record of 29-17. They’ll have Jose Urquidy starting on the mound tonight, Urquidy has a record of 4-1. Through 40.1 innings pitched, Urquidy has thrown 30 strikeouts. Although he has a strong ERA, it’s not quite as good as Logan Gilbert.

Gilbert has a record of 4-2 this season with an ERA of 2.60 through 52.0 innings. As a team, the Mariners are batting .235 with a slight edge over the Astros. Considering the Mariners are at home today, we’re a little surprised the Astros are favored to win. With that being said, we’ll take the Mariners to win today +105.
