Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 15. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from the NBA Playoffs, MLB, and the NHL Playoffs.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics – 3:30 PM ET
It’s Game 7 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics. After Game 6, it looks as if the Bucks are losing steam on offense. They scored just 95 points, allowing the Celtics to score 108. Tonight, if they want to win this series, they have to beat the Boston Celtics at home. Boston comes into this game as five-point favorites and they’re likely the better pick.
Defensively, the Celtics have been much more consistent than the Bucks have. Consistency in the playoffs is one of the biggest factors to take into consideration. Boston is also back at home, giving them a momentum boost as well. Although Robert Williams III is out, we think the Celtics will win this series at home tonight.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 4:10 PM ET
Moving to Major League Baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies will face the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies have won the first three games of this series already, with a lot of runs being scored. The 17-17 team has won four of their last five games, but are still the underdogs tonight. This is because the 1-4 Aaron Nola will get the start on the mound for them.
Nola will be forced to face the batters of the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a team, the Dodgers have a batting average of .241 ranking ninth in Major League Baseball. However, the Phillies lead them in this category with a team batting average of .256. Michael Grove, in his first start of the season, will get the start for the Dodgers. This will be a close one, but we’ll take L.A.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers – 7:00 PM ET
Multiple game sevens are taking place tonight, this one between the Penguins and Rangers. The Penguins were leading the series 3-1 but lost two games in a row, allowing the Rangers to come back. Now, with momentum on the side of the Rangers, the Penguins have to rally back. The problem is the Penguins have allowed an average of four goals in the last two games.
The New York Rangers have forced a Game 7 finale at home. On average, the Rangers put up 3.05 goals per game, while only allowing 2.49. In this series, they’ve had a few uncharacteristic games, but they’ve turned the tides now. News for the Penguins is that Sidney Crosby could be in the lineup tonight. If he is, we think the Penguins will secure a win on the road.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns – 8:00 PM ET
The final game of the series between the Mavericks and Suns is set for tonight. The Mavericks claimed a huge 113-86 victory over the Suns in Game 6. Now, to win the series they have to beat the Suns at home, something they have yet to do. The Mavericks’ defense is yet again the key to a win here. If they can continue to shut down Devin Booker, they should win tonight.
Phoenix and their offense have been somewhat of a letdown in this series. After the first two games of the series, their offense has taken a massive step back. For example, through the first two games, the Suns averaged 125 points per game. However, through the next four, the offense fell to 97.75. With that being said, we’ll trust the defense of the Mavericks here.
Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames – 9:30 PM ET
Moving back to the NHL, we have the Dallas Stars taking on the Calgary Flames. The Stars won game six of this series, forcing a Game 7 in Calgary. The main difference between these two is their goal average. The Stars only put up 2.84 goals per game compared to the Flames’ 3.55 per game. Still, they’ve found a way to secure wins with defense in this series.
However, playing the Flames at home is a different story. Throughout the season, the Calgary Flames went 25-9-7 at home while the Stars are 19-20-2 on the road. Calgary won two games in a row before the Stars took Game 6. As we head into Game 7, we think the Flames’ offense will really show off tonight.
