Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 22. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from the NHL, MLB, and the NBA Playoffs.
Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning – 1:30 PM ET
Kicking off the day is an NHL playoff game between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. At the moment, Tampa Bay has a 2-0 lead on the Panthers to start the series. Florida has had a tough time getting their offense going this series, which is rather strange. During the season Florida averaged 4.11 goals per game. However, they’ve only averaged 1 goal so far.
By slowing down the Panthers’ goal scorers, the Lightning is in command of the series. As a team, they’ve averaged three goals per game this series. As long as the Lightning can stay in front of the Panthers, they should be able to win this game. Tampa Bay also gets to play at home, which gives them another distinct advantage.
Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees – 3:05 PM ET
Moving over to Major League Baseball, we’ll see the White Sox face the Yankees. The White Sox are 19-20, with a 10-10 record on the road. Taking the mound tonight is Johnny Cueto, who has only pitched six innings this season. Unfortunately for the White Sox, they’ll have a lot of players sidelined tonight. One of these is third-baseman Yoan Moncada and P Aaron Bummer.
The Yankees will start the 4-1 Jameson Taillon, giving the Yankees a huge advantage. The Yankees have won four games of their last five. Their most recent game was a 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox. With Taillon on the mound, the Yankees should be able to win this game at home. They come in at -180, so they’re definitely the best pick tonight.
Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers – 3:30 PM ET
The next game we’ll take a look at is the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers. Carolina has got out to a quick start, leading the series 2-0. Throughout these two games, the Hurricanes have averaged two goals per game. However, more impressive is the fact that they’ve locked the Rangers to just 0.5 goals per game.
The Rangers have fallen behind in the series quickly, and are in a bit of trouble. The good news is they’ll get to play at home tonight, which could give them a slight advantage. However, the Hurricanes’ offense has been incredible through the playoffs. Between these two teams, the Hurricanes are the better pick -120 tonight.
Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers – 8:00 PM ET
The next NHL game of the night is between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. At the moment, the series is tied 1-1. The Flames lost the most recent game 5-3 after their defense struggled to prevent goals. The first game of the series was an impressive 15 goal game between the two teams. Regardless of who you pick, you should also take the over as well.
The Edmonton Oilers recent win was on the road and now they’ll return home. By playing in their own arena, the Oilers should have an advantage. During the regular season, the Oilers had a 28-12-1 record at home. Connor McDavid is on an unreal level, with 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) through nine playoff games. As a team, during the regular season, the Oilers averaged 3.48 goals per game. We’ll take the Oilers to get a win and take the lead in this series.
Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks – 9:00 PM ET
Closing the night is the game between the Warriors and Mavericks. Golden State leads the series 2-0 after winning both games at home. Today, they’ll play in Dallas and will look to shut down Luka Doncic again. Over the first two games of the series, the Warriors have held the Mavericks to 102 points per game. On offense, they’ve averaged 119 points per game.
The Dallas Mavericks need to find a way to shut down the Warriors offense. However, through the last two games, they’ve been unable to. They did keep Game 2 pretty close, but Golden State still covered the spread. Golden State actually comes in as the underdogs tonight, but only by 2.5 points. We’ll take the Warriors +2.5 in this game tonight.
