Daily Sports Bets for Wednesday, May 18

Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 18. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from Major League Baseball, the NHL, and the NBA Playoffs.

Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox – 6:10 PM ETastros vs red sox baseball betting

Kicking off our daily sports bets is the Houston Astros versus the Boston Red Sox. Houston, first in the AL West, has a record of 24-13 this season. At the moment, this series is split at one game for each team. The most recent game was a 13-4 win for the Houston Astros. On the mound tonight is Luis Garcia, who has a 3-1 record this season.

For the Red Sox, the 1-4 Nick Pivetta will get the start. Pivetta is one of the Red Sox worst pitchers, putting them at a massive disadvantage tonight. With a 5.08 ERA, we don’t see the Red Sox coming out of this game victoriously. Because of this, we’ll take the Houston Astros -150 in tonight’s game.

New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes – 7:00 PM ETrangers vs hurricanes hockey betting

The Rangers won three straight games to take out the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tonight, they’ll begin their series against the Carolina Hurricanes. New York will look to players Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider to lead them against the Hurricanes. However, the real test will be for the Rangers defense. Can New York stop the Hurricanes who average 3.38 goals per game?

What’s interesting about the Hurricanes is not only their offense but their defense as well. On average, the Hurricanes only allow 2.44 goals per game. To be fair, they had trouble stopping the Boston Bruins, nearly losing the series. We expect them to get off to a fast start and win this game tonight though, Carolina Hurricanes -170.

New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles – 7:05 PM ETyankees vs orioles baseball betting

The Yankees are one of the best teams in MLB at the moment. They’ve won four of their last five games, two of which were against the Orioles. Tonight, they’ll look to win their fourth consecutive game by putting Gerrit Cole on the mound. Cole is undefeated so far this season with a record of 3-0. The Orioles will also have to worry about Aaron Judge, who’s batting .315.

With the batters of the Yankees at the plate, the Orioles are in a tough position. Tasked with slowing them down is the 2-3 Jordan Lyles. Lyles has an ERA of 4.38 this season over the course of 39 innings pitched. At the plate, the Orioles have a team batting average of .226 with an on-base percentage of .299. We’ll take the Yankees -260 tonight.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors – 9:00 PM ET

The sole NBA game of the day is between the Mavericks and Warriors. After rallying to win two games in a row against the Suns, the Mavericks find themselves against another strong offense. Defense will be their game plan against the Warriors, similar to how they faced the Suns. However, they might find they’ll have a tougher time against one of the best shooters in history.

The Warriors eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies in six games and the Denver Nuggets in five. Although the Mavericks defense is a lot more stingy than those teams, the advantage is with the Warriors. They rank seventh in rebounds per game with 45.5, this gives them more chances to score. This one will be close, but we’ll take the Warriors to win Game 1 at home.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames – 9:30 PM ETOilers vs Flames betting predictions nhl odds

Our last game of the day is between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames. The Oilers have the tough challenge of overcoming the Flames defense. On average, Calgary only allows 2.51 goals per game with an average of 29 shots against. For the Oilers to win here, they’ll need to put multiple shots on goal. The last thing they should do is play too conservatively tonight.

For the Flames, the outline is simple, tough defense and create scoring opportunities. As a team, the Flames averaged 3.55 goals per game. The Oilers as a defense allow an average of 3.06 goals against them. Calgary comes into this game as -160 favorites, however, we think an upset is likely. We’ll take the Oilers tonight and the over on the six-goal total.
