Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 25. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from the NHL, MLB, and the NBA Playoffs.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington Nationals – 4:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals will kick off our daily sports bets. The Dodgers rank first in the NL West with a 29-13 record. They’re coming off of a 9-4 win over the Nationals yesterday. The day before that they beat the Nationals 10-1. On the mound for the Dodgers is Julio Urias, who has a 3-3 record this season.
The Nationals will send out Erick Fedde, who has a 2-3 record this season. Fedde has an ERA of 4.08 and is tasked with taking on the Dodgers batters. In terms of team batting average, the Nationals have a slight edge at .251. However, we still think the Dodgers will come away with a win this afternoon.
Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 6:40 PM ET
Jumping forward a bit, we’ll see the Marlins face the Tampa Bay Rays. Miami is 18-23 this season with an 8-11 record on the road. They’ve lost four of their last five games, their most recent loss being to the Rays yesterday. Taking the mound for the Marlins is Cody Poteet, Poteet has an ERA of 0.78 in 23 innings.
The Rays are 25-17 this season with a 14-9 record at home. In yesterday’s game, the Rays put up four runs and allowed none. On the mound tonight is Drew Rasmussen, arguably the Rays best pitcher. Rasmussen has an ERA of 2.33 and a record of 4-1 this season. Look for the Rays to secure another win at home tonight.
St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche – 8:00 PM ET
The Blues will face the Colorado Avalanche down 3-1 in the series. Facing elimination, St. Louis has to get a win on the road just to stay in the competition. The last game between these two ended in a 6-3 loss for St. Louis. In the game prior to that, they lost 5-2, which shows a similar pattern. The Blues don’t have an answer for the offense of the Avalanche.
The Colorado Avalanche needs one more win to head into the next round. To do this, all they need to do is keep playing the way they have. Offensive pressure and shots on goal have led them to a 3-1 series lead. Through five games, they’ve lost only one. However, it’s important to note that defenseman Samuel Girard is out and will miss the rest of the playoffs with a broken sternum. Still, we’ll take the Avalanche -260.
Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat – 8:30 PM ET
Moving to the Eastern Conference Finals, we’ve got Game 5 between the Celtics and Heat. Currently, the series is tied at 2-2 after Boston’s strong win in Game 4. The Celtics allowed just 82 points while scoring 102 of their own. With such a strong performance against the Heat, it’s not surprising that Boston is favored.
Although the Miami Heat is at home, they’re still the underdogs. The reason for this is because of their inconsistencies on offense throughout the series. If Miami can’t get their offense rolling tonight, they’ll fall behind 3-2. They’ve averaged just 102.75 points per game against the Celtics. With that kind of offense, we’ll take the Celtics -1.5 on the road.
Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels – 9:38 PM ET
The last game of our daily sports bets is the Texas Rangers versus the Los Angeles Angels. The Rangers are 18-23 and are coming off a loss to none other than the Angels. Yesterday, the Rangers were beaten 5-3, making it their third straight loss. Glenn Otto will lead off as the SP today with a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 5.55.
The Los Angeles Angels will have the 2-1 Reid Detmers take the mound today. Detmers has an ERA of 4.15 over 31.2 innings pitched this season. The Angels have a significant edge in terms of batting average at .249. They also have an edge in terms of runs scored this season at 212. Look for the Angels to win again today handing the Rangers their fourth loss in a row.
