Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat Preview and Predictions

Detroit Pistons Travel to Miami to Face the Heat

The Detroit Pistons might be near the bottom of the East, but they’ve been winning games. One of their most recent wins was against the Atlanta Hawks. In that game, Cade Cunningham put up 28 points and led his team to a 113-110 win.

If they want any chance of beating the Miami Heat, they’ll need a big game from Cunningham. They’ll also need a little help from the Heat.

Miami’s biggest concern right now is keeping Jimmy Butler healthy. He’s listed on the injury report as “day-to-day” and suffering from an “illness.”

Considering we’re nearing the end of the season, it might be smart for the Heat to rest Butler here. The Magic aren’t a threat to them in the conference, and they don’t want to risk Butler’s availability. So, who should you pick here?

Game Preview: Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat March 14th

As we mentioned above, the Detroit Pistons have pulled off some impressive wins. Even in a recent loss to the Bulls, the Pistons only lost by six points. In terms of offense, the Pistons are one of the worst teams in the league in scoring.

However, they’ve done better in recent weeks as a team, especially Cade Cunningham. They’ll likely rely on him to do most of the scoring.

The Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler is still a very impressive unit. They have players like Kyle Lowry and Bam Adebayo to lead them. However, they recently lost 111-90 to the Phoenix Suns.

It’s fair to say Jimmy Butler being out will negatively affect their chances to cover in this game. However, the spread will likely be reduced if he’s ruled out before the game against the Pistons.

Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat Betting Prediction

These two teams last faced each other in late December of 2021. The Miami Heat were at home and 12-point favorites in the game. Detroit came into Miami and put up 112 points, Miami won, but only 115-112, failing to cover.

This game was indicative of what we believe could happen if Jimmy Butler doesn’t play. Keep your eye on the injury report before you bet this one.

If Butler does end up suiting up, make sure the spread is within seven points. If it goes anywhere over that amount, we’d recommend betting on the Pistons.

Detroit has a much better record against the spread than they do in the NBA. As of writing, the Pistons are 34-31-1 against the spread. Against the Heat, they’ve gone 6-2-2 ATS in their last ten games.

Betting the total on this might be tough, but because of Miami’s defense, we’d take the under. Miami allows an average of only 104.62 points per game, ranking fourth in the NBA. In their last three games against each other, the total has gone under twice.
