Rockets Travel to Orlando to Face the Magic Friday Night

The Houston Rockets took one of their worst losses of the year in their last game. The Rockets lost to the Clippers just before the All-Star Game, 142-111. In hopes to get a win under their belt, the Rockets will try to take down the Orlando Magic. Each of these teams are at the bottom of their conferences, a win here could boost morale. The toughest choice is choosing the winner. 

The Orlando Magic have only 13 wins this season and will hope to make it 14. They’re likely out of contention for any playoff hopes, along with the Houston Rockets. With both of these teams struggling to win games, we’ll have to break down their recent performances. By using this information we can come up with a prediction for who will take home a win on Friday night.

The Houston Rockets have the 19th-ranked offense in the NBA, averaging 108.28 points per game. Unfortunately for Houston, their defense is the worst in the NBA, allowing an average of 118.14 points per game. This lack of efficiency on defense was apparent in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers. On Friday, the Magic offense should have a much better showing.

Orlando’s offense barely averages over 103 points per game, one of the worst in the NBA. With such a lackluster offense, it should be no surprise that they aren’t winning games. However, they should have a better showing against the Rockets league-worst defense. What’s most important is who will come in as the favorites on Friday. Our odds are on the Houston Rockets.     

Houston Rockets at Orlando Magic Betting Prediction 

The reason we say the Rockets will be favored is because of the last time these two-faced. The Rockets came in as 2.5-point favorites and won the game 118-116. Using this game as an example, we can surmise that the Rockets will likely be favored. Still, they were unable to cover the spread then and we expect the case is the same here. So, that leaves us taking the Magic.

The Magic are 2-8 in their last ten games against the Rockets, but are 5-5 against the spread. These two teams are pretty similar in terms of ability, which is the reason for the small spread. However, we’ll give the Orlando Magic the benefit of the doubt here as they’ll also be at home. The last bit for us to decide is whether or not the total will go over the spread in Friday’s game.

In their last ten meetings against each other, the total has gone over seven times. With the awful defense of the Rockets, it shouldn’t be a problem for the total to go over. The total has gone over in five of Houston’s last six games. Taking the Magic at home and the over will give you the best chance to win this wager.
