Kansas City Chiefs Betting Odds 21-22 Season

The 2020-2021 Kansas City Chiefs had their best regular season in franchise history, going 14-2 and clinching a playoff berth for the sixth consecutive season under head coach Andy Reid. 

The Chiefs fell short in repeating as champions, falling short to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl. It was still a remarkable season, however, as quarterback Patrick Mahomes continued to put up godly numbers, and seven Chiefs players were named to the Pro Bowl. 

Despite the Chiefs dominance last season, they only went 7-9 against the spread if you bet on them. Oddly enough, Kansas City was only able to cover once over the final eight regular season games. On over/unders, they finished 8-8. 

Following the Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay, the Chiefs cut long-time left tackle Eric Fisher, and signed guard Joe Thuney to a five-year, $80 million contract. Thuney has won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, and was named second team-All Pro in 2019. 

The lack of protection for Mahomes in the Super Bowl was the main reason Kansas City lost to Tampa Bay, so the Chiefs also drafted two offensive linemen in the draft. 

Andy Reid’s team also added interior defensive lineman Jarran Reed in free agency. Reed recorded 7.5 sacks with the Seattle Seahawks last season. 

Players that the Chiefs lost in free agency included receiver Sammy Watkins, corner Bashaud Breeland, linebacker Damien Wilson, and running back Damien Williams. Three-time Pro Bowler Le’Veon Bell wasn’t re-signed by the Chiefs as well, after a disappointing campaign in Kansas City last season.
