December 7th: Villanova Wildcats at Syracuse Orange
The NCAA men’s college basketball season has been very fun this season. A few teams have broken away from the pack, and a couple of teams have fallen back into the pack. As it looks right now, there is a clear-cut top team in the country, and everyone else has struggled at times this year. This upcoming week starts conference play for most of the conferences, and it is now time for their preparation to mean something over the past few months. If conference play is anything like the non-conference play was, we will see a lot of shocking upsets.
Wildcats Sits at #6 vs Syracuse Orange Pick
The Villanova Wildcats travel to take on the Syracuse Orange on Tuesday night, and it should be an intriguing game. Villanova sits at #6 in the country despite two losses on the year. Those two losses came at the hands of #2 UCLA and #6 Purdue, so you can see why they are still ranked within the Top 10. Syracuse has not been as lucky this year as Auburn has gotten blown out and beaten by VCU and Colgate, both at home. They allowed 100 points to Colgate this year.
Usually a strong defense, Syracuse is allowing 81.9 points a game this year, and with their offense scoring 83.9 points a game, that is not ideal. Look for Villanova to attack the zone in this game and try to make life tough offensively. Collin Gillespie is leading Villanova this year with 17.0 points a game, and Buddy Boeheim is scoring 21.0 points a game to lead Syracuse. I would lean Villanova, but it depends on the spread. I might take the Syracuse spread.
