Who’s the better pick in this matchup of superstars on Sunday?
There’s no arguing; the Minnesota Timberwolves are playing some of their best basketball. Although they sit at the No.7 spot in the Western Conference, they’ve been playing rather well. The Timberwolves kept their heads high even with their recent loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Leading up to that loss, the Minnesota Timberwolves had won four games in a row.
The Boston Celtics are doing something similar in the Eastern Conference. At the time of writing, the Celtics are on a four-game win streak and hope to extend it. Jayson Tatum and the Celtics have the No.4 position in the Eastern Conference. They’re currently only a few games behind the 76ers; a win here could change that. So, who should you take in this Sunday game?
Game Preview: Minnesota Timberwolves at Boston Celtics, March 27th
The Minnesota Timberwolves have the No.1 ranked scoring offense in the NBA. On average, the Timberwolves put up 115.51 points per game. With this offensive prowess, they’ve been able to overwhelm opponents. This is especially true of opponents that don’t have very strong defenses. However, they face one of the best defenses in the NBA on Sunday night.
The Boston Celtics are ranked No.1 in points allowed per game at 103.58. This defense is tenacious and won’t allow any easy scores from the Timberwolves. They also have a few players in the paint, making it tough on Karl-Anthony Towns. Jayson Tatum, the Celtics small forward, leads the team with 27.0 points per game. This game is going to be a close one.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Boston Celtics Betting Prediction
These two teams haven’t faced each other in quite some time. The last time they met was in December of 2021, and the Timberwolves came in at +5. Minnesota was at home in that game and won it 108-103, a big win for them at the time. However, we don’t see this game playing out the same way. Still, the points spread should have the Celtics around the same -5 mark.
In their last ten games against the Timberwolves, the Celtics are 9-1. In those same ten games, the Celtics have an against-the-spread record of 9-1 as well. The way we see it, the Celtics are the more trustworthy team at the sportsbook. The spread shouldn’t be very large either, especially with how the Timberwolves have played.
Boston has gone 24-12 this season at home, giving us more of a reason to take them. After seeing what the Mavericks defense did to the Timberwolves, we have to take Boston. They have the best defense in the NBA, with the offensive prowess to match. We’d take the under when it comes to the total if it’s set at 225 and up. If it’s at 220, we’d recommend taking the over.
