It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Monday’s schedule.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles – 7:05 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays face off against the Baltimore Orioles tonight. With a record of 60-48, the Blue Jays rank second in the AL East, 9.5 games behind the Yankees. Tonight, Yusei Kikuchi will get the start on the mound for the Blue Jays. This season Kikuchi has gone 4-5 with a 4.86 ERA over 74 innings. The big difference here is the Blue Jays lead in terms of batting.
With a team batting average of .264, the Blue Jays rank as one of the best batting teams. The Orioles, on the other hand, has an average of .236. They have a record of 56-52, placing them fourth in the AL East. Although the Blue Jays are on the road tonight, they come in as the favorites at -155. We think the road team is the best pick in this one.
Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ET
After winning their last two games, morale is likely high for the Cincinnati Reds. Their overall record of 44-63 doesn’t showcase what they’ve done over the last week. They can improve their record even further with a win over the New York Mets tonight. On the mound tonight is Justin Dunn, who is 1-3 for the Reds this season.
Dunn on the mound against the Mets batters could be a problem. As a team, the New York Mets have a batting average of .259, and have a few incredible hitters. One of these batters is Pete Alonso, who leads the team in home runs (29) and RBIs (95). The 8-7 Chris Bassitt will be the starting pitcher, which convinces us to take the Mets -320.
Washington Nationals vs. Chicago Cubs – 8:05 PM ET
With a record of 36-74, things aren’t going well for the Washington Nationals. They’ve lost five games in a row including yesterday’s 13-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. Getting the start tonight is Anibal Sanchez, who is 0-4 with an ERA of 7.65. As they prepare to face the Chicago Cubs, the Nationals come into this game as +158 underdogs.
The Chicago Cubs should be a better matchup for the Nationals. This season, the Cubs are 22-33 at home, giving the Nationals a bit of room to steal this game. The only trouble is that
Keegan Thompson is getting the start tonight. Thompson has an ERA of 3.48 and has thrown 83 strikeouts in 93 innings. Between these two, we’ll go with the Cubs at -190.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Oakland Athletics – 9:40 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels are another team that has seriously struggled this season. With a record of 46-63, the Angels rank fourth in the AL West. The good news is they’ll have a pretty stable pitcher on the mound tonight. Jose Suarez (3-4) will get the start tonight and has an ERA of 4.55 this season. Where the Angels really struggle is at the plate with an average of .229.
The Angels will face the 41-68 Oakland Athletics tonight. Oakland has a record of 17-35 at home and has one of the worst batting averages in the league (.216). On the mound tonight is Cole Irvin, who has a 6-8 record and an ERA of 3.04. Between these two, the better team is the Angels, so we’ll take them +105.
New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners – 10:10 PM ET
This AL East versus AL West matchup should be an entertaining one. The New York Yankees have a record of 70-39 after losing five games in a row. They’ve lost their position at the top of the American League but are holding onto the AL East. On the mound tonight is Jameson Taillon, who is 10-2 this season with an ERA of 3.96.
Although Taillon is a great pitcher, the Mariners are starting a strong one of their own. Logan Gilbert will take the mound tonight and has a record of 10-4 this season. His ERA of 3.09 is supported by 120 strikeouts in 128.1 innings. The only disadvantage for the Mariners is their performances at the plate. Still, we’ll take the Mariners at home +100.
