It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.
San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs – 2:20 PM ET
Kicking off our best bets for Major League Baseball today is the Padres versus the Cubs. The San Diego Padres have a record of 40-24 this season with a 23-11 record on the road. Their last three games have resulted in victories, all of which were against the Cubs. On the mound tonight is the 7-0 Joe Musgrove, who has an ERA of 1.50 this season.
With Musgrove on the mound, the Cubs are in a tough spot. They’ve had trouble already in this series against the Padres, and Musgrove won’t help. As a team, the Cubs have a batting average of .242, barely behind the Padres. On the mound for them tonight is the 1-1 Matt Swarmer, who has only pitched 17 innings. We’ll take the Padres -210 tonight.
Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays – 3:07 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles have won three of their last five games. However, their last loss was a 7-6 defeat handed to them by the Toronto Blue Jays. With the series currently at 2-1 in favor of the Blue Jays, the Orioles will try to steal another one here. Getting the start at the pitcher position is Tyler Wells, who is 3-4 as a starter.
Wells will find himself going against the 5-5 Kevin Gausman of the Toronto Blue Jays. Gausman has an ERA of 2.67 over the course of 70.2 innings. The advantage in terms of pitching is going to the Blue Jays to be sure. The Orioles batters have also had tough sledding compared to the Blue Jats. With the Blue Jays having advantages in pitching and batting, we’ll take them -255.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Colorado Rockies – 3:10 PM ET
This series so far is all Cleveland, who leads it 2-0 at the moment. The Guardians have an overall record of 31-27 this season with a 15-17 record on the road. Taking the mound tonight is Triston McKenzie, who is 3-5 as a starter. The Guardians can, however, rely on their bats to make up for McKenzie’s shortcomings.
The Colorado Rockies are also pretty great at the plate with an average of .257. Unfortunately, this hasn’t always translated to wins for them. At the moment, the Guardians are 27-36 after they had a great start to the season. Getting the nod as the starter is Chad Kuhl, who is 4-3 this season with a 3.70 ERA. We’ll take the underdogs here and pick the Rockies +115.
Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees – 7:05 PM ET
Jumping ahead in the day, we’ll see the Tampa Bay Rays against the New York Yankees. The Rays, with a record of 35-27 this season, ranking third in the NL East. Jalen Beeks will get the nod as the starting pitcher today with a record of 1-1. Beeks has pitched 26 innings this season and has an ERA of 1.38. This could be a great game for the Rays.
The Yankees have already beaten the Rays twice in this series. Yesterday, the Yankees won 4-3, so it’s important to know that these games have been close. Luis Severino, 4-1 as a starter, will start as the pitcher for the Yankees today. Severino has an ERA of 2.80 over 61.0 innings with 71 strikeouts. We have to take the team with the better pitcher, New York -270.
Texas Rangers vs. Detroit Tigers – 7:10 PM ET
The last game we’re going to take a look at is the Texas Rangers versus Detroit Tigers. The Rangers, 29-33 this season, have a 15-15 record on the road. They lost two straight games to the Houston Astros, taking them further away from .500. On the mound tonight is Martin Perez, who has a 4-2 record as a starter with an ERA of 2.18.
Opposite of him is Beau Brieske, who is 1-5 as a starter with an ERA of 4.34. Considering the Tigers have a disadvantage at pitcher, this game looks like it’ll go to the Rangers. Texas also has a better team batting average than the Tigers at .234. We’ll go with the Rangers to win this game on the road -145.
