MLB Best Bets for October 19, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re looking and betting on the best games on Wednesday’s MLB playoff schedule.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres – 4:35 PM ETphillies vs padres baseball betting

Our first game of the day is between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres. Last night, the Phillies pulled off their first win of the series and now lead it 1-0. They’ll look to double down tonight and get another win over the Padres. However, it won’t be too simple.

Getting the start on the mound for the Phillies today is Aaron Nola. Nola had a record of 11-13 through the regular season with a 3.25 ERA. He’s not a bad pitcher but he’s definitely had his struggles on the mound this year. The Padres batters could give him a bit of trouble today.

The good news is he has a strong group of batters behind him. With a team batting average of .253, the Phillies are one of the best in the league. Getting a fast start is key for the Phillies today. If they can match their energy from yesterday, they could pull off another win.

The San Diego Padres are sending out Blake Snell tonight. Snell posted a 8-10 record through the regular season with an ERA of 3.38. The most recent game that Snell pitched in was against the Los Angeles Dodgers, a game he won.

With Snell on the mound, the chances for the Padres to win went up. He found a way to shut down one of the best batting teams in the league last Friday. Taking on the Padres shouldn’t be a problem for Snell.

It helps that the Padres have several strong batters of their own. Although they didn’t showcase it last night, we expect this team to play at its full potential today. We’ll go with the Padres -125 at home.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros – 7:37 PM ETyankees vs astros baseball betting

The New York Yankees come into this game at a massive disadvantage. Not only did they play a game yesterday but they played in New York as well. Now, they’ll have to travel to Houston to face the Astros for Game 1.

This is a lot of stress for a team to be put under which will directly affect their performance. Jameson Taillon is on the mound for the Yankees, who posted a 14-5 record during the regular season. The question is, how will the quick turnaround and travel affect Taillon?

It’s bound to affect the rest of the team as well, including the batting lineup. This team is facing the Astros’ Justin Verlander, their best pitcher. Playing on such a quick schedule is bound to have the Yankees sluggish.

Verlander posted an ERA of 1.75 during the regular season, leading all pitchers. He had a record of 18–4 which was the second-best record in the league.

Because of who’s on the mound for the Astros in Game 1, we have to go with Houston. They come in as a -195 favorite and are the best pick for this game.
