It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Monday’s schedule.
Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees – 1:05 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are 2-3 over the course of their last five games. Last night, they finally broke a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Tonight, they face the 80-54 New York Yankees. On the mound for the Twins tonight is the 2-7 Chris Archer, who has an ERA of 4.52.
Taking the mound for the Yankees is Jameson Taillon, the 12-4 pitcher with a 3.97 ERA. The Yankees clearly win the pitching battle here but the Twins have the better batters. With an average of .248, the Twins have one of the better groups in the league. However, we’ll still take the Yankees at home -170.
Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 4:10 PM ET
Jumping forward into the afternoon, we’ll see a big AL East matchup. The Boston Red Sox, who are 67-68 and fifth in the division will face the 74-58 Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have the second-place spot in the division and are close to catching up to the Yankees. The Red Sox will send out Michael Wacha, who is arguably their best pitcher.
Wacha has an ERA of 2.56 and a record of 10-1 this season. At the plate, the Red Sox have a batting group that is currently hitting .260. Compared to the Rays .241, we think the better pick tonight is the Red Sox at -110.
Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 4:15 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have a record of 47-87 this season and are 25-40 on the road. As they head into this game, they’re 4-1 over their last five games. After beating the New York Mets twice, the Nationals find themselves in a great spot here. They won’t be making the postseason but they’re getting some big wins to end the year.
The St. Louis Cardinals have a record of 79-55 this season. Getting the start for them on the mound tonight is Jack Flaherty, who has a 5.63 ERA. Facing Flaherty is Anibal Sanchez of the Nationals, who has a 5.05 ERA. This isn’t going to be an easy win for the Cardinals but we’ll take them -267 tonight.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles – 4:35 PM ET
Another AL East game worth keeping an eye on is this one. The Toronto Blue Jays have a record of 73-59 this season with a 35-30 record on the road. Tonight, they’ll face the 71-62 Baltimore Orioles, a fellow AL East rival. Jose Berrios (9-5) will get the start for the Blue Jays tonight.
On the mound for the Orioles is the 1-2 Mike Baumann, who has a 4.50 ERA. The Blue Jays have a significantly better batting average as well this season (.259). With the Blue Jays having the slight edge at the plate, we’ll take them over the Orioles.
Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros – 7:10 PM ET
The Texas Rangers are 58-75 this year and likely to miss the postseason. At the moment, the team has lost its last eight games, falling to third in the AL West. Tonight, they face the leaders of the AL West, the Houston Astros. On the mound for Texas is Martin Perez, who has an impressive 10-5 record with a 2.89 ERA.
The Houston Astros have a record of 86-48 and are 43-20 at home. Over Houston’s last five games, they’ve gone 4-1. They have a batting average of .245 this season, getting a slight edge over the Texas Rangers. Houston comes in as -165 favorites and we’ll take them at home tonight.
