NFL Divisional Round Recap

The 2022-23 NFL Divisional Round just wrapped up after a confusing end-of-season shuffle. The final matchups for the NFC and the AFC championships have also been settled. NFL Fans can now expect top football action as the postseason approaches the next stage.

Only four teams remain as a fight for a ticket to the 2023 NFL Super Bowl begins. Divisionals Rounds took place on January 21 and 22. NFL Weekend action started last Saturday when the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Philadelphia Eagles also played the New York Giants. On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals visited the Buffalo Bills while San Francisco stood up against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the season entering the one-game elimination stage, teams have no second chances or replays. However, with top teams entering the Divisional Rounds, everything is set for the next stage.

Purdy’s 49ers Beat Prescott’s High-Profile Cowboys

It was an ugly back-and-forth fight throughout the entire game. Fans say they couldn’t have expected less. However, the 49ers did what they’ve done in each of their previous divisional-round matchups. Ultimately, this effort allowed the bay area lineup to advance to the AFC Championship game.

For Brock Purdy, it’s more than just an accomplishment to have led the team to a conference final. Purdy will now become the fourth quarterback picked in the sixth round or later to play for a conference championship in his opening season. He will join a select list that includes legendary players Dieter Brock (1985), Kurt Warner (1999), and Tom Brady (2001).

On the other hand, the Cowboys’ string of postseason appearances is now the longest in NFL history. Dallas now has 12 playoff appearances, yet no conference title since 1995.

Some fans recognized that Purdy is rewriting the history books with his solid game as the final pick in the 2022 NFL draft. However, most experts say the 49ers ended the Cowboys’ season on Sunday night because of the team’s outstanding defensive lineup.
