Associated Press AP Poll Top 25 Update

The AP Top 25 poll for men’s college basketball is officially available. Like last week, there was little movement this week, although there were still some notable teams moving around. Let’s look at the Top 25 this week and try to figure out how the poll could look like next week. 

What Were Other Notable Moves Made This Week?

There were some teams that made some pretty big moves up the poll this week. LSU bumped up to #12 from #21, and Wisconsin made a ten-spot leap from #23 to #13. Xavier moved up to #17 from #22, and Texas Tech also made a big jump from #25 to #19.

Villanova made a big move up the polls as they jumped from #19 to #14. The last team to move up multiple spots was Seton Hall, who moved up to #20 from #24.

Illinois is the lone newcomer to the poll after a really good week last week. They enter the poll at #25 in the country.

Illinois is 11-3 on the year and have been really good in the last few weeks. After no teams dropped out last week, we have not had much movement on the fringes of the poll.

There are going to be some really good matchups in the upcoming week, so we should see a lot more movement in the poll. There will be multiple teams within the Top 25 that lose this week because there are quite a few ranked vs ranked matchups.

This next week will provide a lot of action that people will need to pay attention to. Look for some teams to rise quickly up the polls based on the results from next week. A lot of great matchups to watch this week.  Lets see if Baylor can make it 6 weeks in row or not.  We will see who the next big movers of the AP top 25 are.
