We turn our attention to Wednesday in the world of sports. The NBA has a really solid, full slate of games, while on ice – there are just two games. Let’s take a look at our 5-pack of games for Wednesday, March 9th, 2022!

Phoenix Suns at Miami Heat

These are the best two teams in the NBA. The Heat lead the East with their 44-22 record, and have won 23 out of 30 games at home this season. What is leading Miami to such a great season? Experts still are not sure, but they are winning games. The Heat take their 3 game winning streak to the test against the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are 52-13 on the season, and 8 games ahead in the Western Conference. The Suns have been solid on the road, winning 24 out of 30 games this season. Expect this to be a great game, but despite injuries; with Booker and Paul out, it still seems like the spread is too high. Take the Suns +7.5 on the road.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Minnesota Timberwolves

The Oklahoma City Thunder know they have a final 20 games and will finish their 2021-2022 season. The Thunder are only ahead of the Rockets in the standings. Oklahoma City has actually been better on the road than they have been at home. They are 11-21 on the road.

But, taking on a surprise Minnesota team is not a recipe for a road win. The Timberwolves are playing good basketball, with 5 straight wins. Look for Minnesota to garner another win, and do it with ease. Take the Timberwolves -14 over Oklahoma City.

Orlando Magic at New Orleans Pelicans

The Orlando Magic have the worst record in all of the NBA. The Magic are 16-50, and 28 games out of first place in the Eastern Conference. Orlando is looking to avoid a three game losing streak, but will have a tough test. The Pelicans were playing solid basketball until their recent back to back losses. The most recent loss saw them allow 132 points in Memphis. C.J. McCollum is a nice help for the Pelicans offense.

Look for him to have his way in this game, as the home team wins. Take the Pelicans -8 over the Magic.

Now, let’s turn to the ice for a pair of games:

Washington Capitals at Edmonton Oilers

Whatever distractions people felt the Capitals would have with the Russia conflict and their star player has not come to fruition. In fact, the Capitals are playing solid hockey with three straight wins. The Oilers have dropped 3 straight, including a 3-1 affair on Monday. Two of the best players in the game in this one, but when push comes to shove – taking the home team seems to be the right move. Edmonton at home is just -130. Taking them is the pick here.

 Montreal Canadiens at Vancouver Canucks

Two Canadian teams get together, and both appear to be going nowhere quickly. Montreal is 15-34-7 and the Canucks are 28-23-6. Vancouver is at least just 5 points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Canucks are coming off a big win in Toronto on Saturday. Keep the momentum going here, Vancouver. The Canucks -1.5 at +115 is the way to go here. Canucks win by 2 or more goals.
