San Antonio Spurs will Travel to Memphis to Face Grizzlies

The San Antonio Spurs are still looking to get their spot in the top ten of the Western Conference. In order to do so, they need to start stringing together wins, especially against conference rivals.

They’ll have a chance to do this against the Memphis Grizzlies, the No.3 team in the conference. The question is, should we take San Antonio against the spread?

Memphis is an incredible basketball team and following closely behind the Warriors. With only a few games separating them from the No.2 spot, the Grizzlies are looking for a win. This offense is one of the best in the NBA, so the Spurs are going to be in trouble.

The Spurs are going to have to rely on their defense in order to win this game. Taking on Ja Morant is a steep task as he’s one of the highest scorers in the NBA.

Unfortunately, the Spurs have one of the worst defenses in the NBA, allowing an average of 111.76 ppg. It’s going to come down to the game plan and how they’ll plan to slow down the production of Ja Morant. 

The Grizzlies will once again look to overwhelm their opponents with their No.3 ranked offense. On average, the Grizzlies score 113.71 points per game; their three-point shooting could use some work, though.

Most of their scoring is done from the interior and mid-range, a place that San Antonio struggles. That being said, let’s see who you should choose when betting this one.

Between these two teams, the Grizzlies definitely have the advantage and will be favored. The real question is how much will they be favored by? The last time they played was in late January, and the Grizzlies were favored by four points.

They won the game 118-110, easily covering the spread and the Grizzlies were on the road. The spread should go up since Memphis is at home.

Still, the spread shouldn’t get too large here, somewhere around Memphis -6. Taking into consideration that the Grizzlies are 18-12 ATS at home, they’re the best pick.

San Antonio doesn’t quite have the defense to slow down Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. Over the last ten games, the Grizzlies have gone 7-3 against the Spurs while going 6-4 against the spread.

The final thing we need to go over is the total and whether it will go over or under. In their last meeting, the total was set at 228.5, and the total went under by a half-point.

Between both of these teams, the total has gone over more times than it’s gone under. With the Spurs’ lackluster defense, we expect Memphis to win, cover the spread, and the total to go over.
