The St. Louis Blues Hit the Road to Take on the Calgary Flames

The St. Louis Blues will head to the Scotiabank Saddledome in a Western Conference matchup on Saturday night to take on the Calgary Flames. This will be the third and final regular-season matchup as both teams won on their home ice, including a 5-1 St. Louis victory back on January 27. The Blues are third in the Central Division (36-20-9, 81 points) so far, while the Flames are leading the entire Western Conference (40-17-8, 88 points) as of this writing. 

Both teams would love to take the regular-season series against a potential trip to the Stanley Cup, so this will be an exciting watch, to say the least. Let’s take a closer look into the St. Louis Blues and the Calgary Flames to determine which side of this game we should be betting on.

St. Louis has also played decently well on the defensive side of the ice as they are allowing 2.85 goals on 31.4 shots right now. Goaltender Jordan Binnington has been struggling in the net as he is 13-13-4 with 3.14 goals allowed per game with a .901 save percentage. 

Calgary has been doing well, being led by left winger Johnny Gaudreau. He’s fourth in the NHL in assists, tied for 18th in hockey in goals, and tied for third in the league in points. He’s recorded 90 points (30 goals, 60 assists) while adding 11 points in his last four games. 

As a team, they are scoring 3.52 goals on 30.6 shots as of this writing. Goalie Jacob Markstrom is doing extremely well as he is 31-12-7 with a .925 save percentage and 2.16 goals allowed per game while also leading the NHL with nine shutouts. 

St. Louis Blues at Calgary Flames Betting Prediction

The difference is defensively, as of late, as St. Louis is giving up 4.3 goals in their previous three games while Calgary is allowing 2.8 goals in their last five games. Markstrom has been playing exceptionally well and should dominate, even against a tough Blues offense. 

There is no edge looking at their against the spread record as both teams are 36-29 this season. Go with the Calgary Flames to cover the puck line in this game as they are the better team.
