NFL Week 1 Recap
The first week of the NFL was full of action, along with a few upsets. Certain games that were considered “locks” ended up falling through the cracks, while others went according to plan. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite games of the week during this NFL Week 1 recap.
Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers – 26-24
Many were unsure of what to expect from the Browns, with Jacoby Brissett leading the team. On Sunday, he had a lackluster game in terms of stats, going 18-34 with 147 yards and a touchdown.
However, he was able to lead his team to a win behind their running game. The Browns put up 217 rushing yards against Carolina’s defense, 141 coming from Nick Chubb.
The Carolina Panthers, led by former Browns QB Baker Mayfield, put up a good fight. Mayfield went 16-27 with 235 passing yards and a touchdown. The main problem for Carolina is their defense couldn’t stop the run. They only lost by two points, capped off by a Cade York 58-yard field goal.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers – 24-19
The Las Vegas Raiders needed to get this win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Unfortunately, they were only able to score 19 points due to mistakes from Derek Carr.
Carr went 22-37 with 295 passing yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. We’re surprised that the Chargers didn’t win by more, considering how many times he turned the ball over.
The Chargers played a much more consistent and less volatile game. Justin Herbert threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns, an efficient game. The Chargers’ offense didn’t turn the ball over once, which is what led to this win.
