Here’s an overview of some of the top games in sports being played on May 13. Today, we’re taking a closer look at five games from Major League Baseball, the NBA, and the NHL.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Miami Marlins – 6:40 PM ET
The first game we’ll be going over today is the Milwaukee Brewers at Miami Marlins. The Brewers, currently 20-12, have a 10-8 record on the road. However, after a 14-11 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, we’re slightly concerned about them. On the mound today is the 1-2 Corbin Burnes, who hasn’t been too strong this season.
For the Miami Marlins (14-17), they’ll be starting one of their best pitchers in Pablo Lopez. Lopez is 4-1 this season with an impressive ERA of 1.00 over 36.0 innings pitched. In those 36 innings, Lopez has thrown 35 strikeouts. Look for the Marlins to come away with this one at home over the Brewers.
Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks – 7:30 PM ET
The Celtics are on the verge of elimination, down 3-2 in this series. The most recent game went in favor of the Bucks, but only by a three-point margin. The Celtics have been able to keep these games very close. Because of this, we think they still have a chance to rally back tonight against Milwaukee.
The Bucks have been slightly inconsistent during this series. They’ve traded blows with the Celtics and can deal the finishing one at home tonight. Robert Williams III is on the “day-to-day” list for the Boston Celtics. Without Williams, the interior will be slightly weaker and give Giannis Antetokounmpo an opening. Look for the Bucks to close the series tonight.
San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 8:15 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants are 19-12 and third in the NL West. Tonight, they face the Cardinals, 17-14, and second in the NL Central. The Giants are also on a five-game winning streak with their most recent win being over the Rockies. In fact, they swept the Rockies and beat them by an average of 5.3 runs per game.
Taking the mound for San Francisco is the 4-1 Logan Webb who will look to earn his fifth win. For the Cardinals, the 1-2 Jordan Hicks will get the nod tonight. The Giants are slightly better at the plate than the Cardinals with a team batting average of .246. With momentum in their favor, we’ll take San Francisco -120.
Calgary Flames vs. Dallas Stars – 9:30 PM ET
Moving over into the NHL, the Calgary Flames face the Dallas Stars. The Flames lead this series 3-2 and can end it with a win tonight. The last two games have gone in favor of Calgary, giving them some much-needed momentum. They’ve also beaten the Stars when playing in Dallas, so keep that in mind.
To win this game, the Stars need to be much better offensively. Through the series, the Stars have averaged 1.6 goals per game. The problem is, they’ve allowed the Flames to score multiple goals against them. Although the Flames are on the road tonight, we think they’re the better pick at -160.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors – 10:00 PM ET
Our final game of the night will pit the Memphis Grizzlies against the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies come into this game as 8.5-point underdogs. We find this spread a little shocking considering the Grizzlies are coming off a 134-95 victory. Still, they’re missing Ja Morant and they’re on the road against the Warriors.
Golden State can bring this series to a close with a win tonight. However, in Game 5, the Warriors turned the ball over 22 times. They led the series 3-1 as they entered Game 5 and put up an awful performance. Although we feel the Warriors will bounce back tonight, we’ll take the Grizzlies +8.5.
