It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Friday’s schedule.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – 7:05 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds (46-70) face the Pittsburgh Pirates (46-72) tonight in Pittsburgh. After a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, morale in Cincinnati is high. The better news is that Graham Ashcraft is getting the start for them tonight. Ashcraft has a record of 5-3 this season with a 3.96 ERA over the span of 86.1 innings.
The Pittsburgh Pirates were able to secure a 5-2 win over the Boston Red Sox yesterday. With a 25-31 record at home, the Pirates come into this game as +105 underdogs. On the mound for them tonight is the 2-7 Bryse Wilson. Wilson has an ERA of 5.93 over the course of 71.1 innings. Between these two, we’ll take the Cincinnati Reds at -125.
New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies – 7:05 PM ET
These two NL West teams are set to begin their final four-game series. The New York Mets, coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves, lead the division. Getting the start tonight is Chris Bassitt, who is 10-7 this season with an ERA of 3.27. As a team, the Mets have one of the best batting averages in the league at .258.
The Philadelphia Phillies have a record of 65-52 this season with a 32-26 record at home. Over their last five games, the Phillies have won only two of them, both against the Cincinnati Reds. With the 8-9 Aaron Nola on the mound, they have slightly better chances of winning. However, we’ll take New York on the road at +105 tonight.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Detroit Tigers – 7:10 PM ET
With a 51-67 record, the Los Angeles Angels have had a disappointing season. After losing three straight games to the Seattle Mariners, they’ll face the 45-75 Detroit Tigers. The 3-8 Patrick Sandoval will get the start on the mound tonight. Sandoval has an ERA of 3.42 this season and has thrown 106 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched.
The Detroit Tigers nearly have a better batting average than the Angels. With an average of .226, the Tigers rank as one of the worst batting teams in the league. They’re coming off an 8-4 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. It’s important to remember that they actually tied that series 2-2, so keep that in mind. This one’s a tough one to call but we’ll take the Tigers at home +110.
Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
The Houston Astros lead the AL West with a record of 77-43. As one of the best teams in the league, it’s surprising that they’re +105 underdogs here. A reason for that could be due to them starting Lance McCullers Jr., who has only pitched six innings. Still, this is a team that is coming off of a 21-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
The Atlanta Braves are the second-place team in the NL East with a record of 73-47. They have a talented roster, filled to the brim with strong batting. On the mound tonight is Kyle Wright, who has a 14-5 record with an ERA of 3.14 this season. With Wright on the mound, the Braves are -125 favorites but we’ll take Houston on the road +105.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40 PM ET
After winning their last four games, the St. Louis Cardinals have a record of 66-51. They’re coming off a 13-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies, a team they swept. Now, they’re facing another NL West team in the Arizona Diamondbacks. On the mound for the Cardinals is Miles Mikolas, who has a 9-9 record with a 3.44 ERA.
The Diamondbacks don’t have many strengths, which is evident from their 55-63 record. Tommy Henry, the 2-1 starting pitcher, has an ERA of 4.15 this season. As a team, they have a batting average of .229 compared to the Cardinals’ .255. This one is a pretty simple one to call in our opinion, we’ll take the Cardinals on the road -190.
