It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Tuesday’s schedule.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds – 6:40 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals easily beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-4 yesterday. Today, they face the team again with the same intentions. On the mound for the Cardinals is the 7-6 Dakota Hudson who has an ERA of 4.23 this season. With Hudson on the mound, the Cardinals have the best chance of winning this game.
The Cincinnati Reds will start Justin Dunn, who is 1-2 with an ERA of 5.12 this season. It’s clear that the pitcher usually determines the outcome, and this was obvious yesterday. Dunn has struggled to contain teams on the mound, which is why we’ll take the Cardinals -210.
Oakland Athletics vs. Washington Nationals – 7:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have a record of 48-81 this season. Last night, they added a win to their column by beating the New York Yankees 4-1. Tonight, they’ll send out Cole Irving, who is 6-11 with an ERA of 3.16. Irving is tasked with slowing down the batters of the Washington Nationals. His own batting lineup is hitting .215 this season, which doesn’t bring much confidence.
The Washington Nationals have a record of 43-85 this season, similar to the Athletics. On the mound tonight is the 5-8 Erick Fedde, who has an ERA of 4.88. The Nationals have better batting than the Athletics with a .246 average. Fedde might have the worse ERA but we’ll take him over Irving and the Athletics -115.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ET
This game has “game of the day” potential in our opinion. The Los Angeles Dodgers, who lead the National League with a record of 89-38 face the New York Mets. Although the Dodgers have the better record, we can’t forget about the Mets. The Dodgers haven’t, which is why they’re starting the 2-1 Andrew Heaney who has an ERA of 1.94.
The New York Mets are hoping that SP Taijuan Walker can slow down the Dodgers batters. Walker has an ERA of 3.38 with a 10-3 record this season and 88 strikeouts. The starters aren’t the concern here, it’s the closers. The Dodgers are batting .263 at the moment and Mookie Betts is on fire. It’ll be a closer one but we’ll take the Dodgers at -140.
Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:20 PM ET
This season hasn’t exactly gone in favor of the Colorado Rockies. They have a 55-74 record and are fifth in the NL West. They are, however, coming off a 1-0 win over the New York Mets. On the mound tonight is the 2-5 Jose Urena who has an ERA of 5.98 this season.
The Atlanta Braves are sending out the 12-4 Max Fried. Fried is one of their best pitchers, boasting an ERA of 2.52 over the course of 153.1 innings. Fried has also thrown 140 strikeouts in that time and allowed just 8 home runs. With him on the mound, this game is an easy pick at Braves -385.
Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers – 8:05 PM ET
With an 82-47 record, the Houston Astros lead the AL West. Tonight, they face a division rival in the 58-69 Texas Rangers. Houston is starting Framber Valdez, one of their best pitchers. Valdez has a 13-4 record with a 2.65 ERA. The Astros also have a strong batting group, hitting .245 this season.
The Texas Rangers might not have a great record but they’ve pulled off some big wins. One of these wins was over the Colorado Rockies last week. They beat Colorado 16-4 in a notable showcase of their batting. Hitting .244 this season, the Rangers are our upset of the day, coming in at +150.
