MLB Best Bets for August 5, 2022

It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Friday’s schedule.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Baltimore Orioles – 7:05 PM ETpirates vs orioles baseball betting

The Pittsburgh Pirates head into this game with a record of 19-33 on the road. With an overall record of 43-62, the Pirates are +135 underdogs here. On the mound tonight for Pittsburgh is the 3-7 Mitch Keller who has an ERA of 4.37 this season. The Pirates also have one of the worst batting teams in the league with a .221 average.

The Baltimore Orioles have a record of 54-51 with a 29-20 record at home. In the AL East, they sit at the No.4 spot but are only a few games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Taking the mound today is Dean Kremer, who is 3-3 this season with an ERA of 3.86. With the Orioles having the edge on the mound and at the plate, we’ll take them -160.

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets – 7:10 PM ETbraves vs mets baseball betting

With a record of 63-43, the Atlanta Braves rank second in the NL East. Tonight, they face off against the first-place team, the New York Mets. Ian Anderson will take the mound for the Braves tonight with an ERA of 4.99 over 101 innings. Anderson’s ERA is slightly concerning but the Braves batters should make up for it.

The New York Mets are sending out one of their best pitchers, Taijuan Walker. Walker has a record of 9-2 this season with an outstanding 2.79 ERA. Through 103.1 innings, Walker has thrown 80 strikeouts and allowed just seven home runs. The Mets have a significant edge at the plate as well, where they’re batting .257. We’ll go with the Mets at home -150.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers – 8:10 PM ETreds vs brewers baseball betting

This game could be an interesting one, especially since the Brewers have lost four in a row. The Cincinnati Reds have won four of their last five after losing last night to the Miami Marlins. Robert Dugger, who has only pitched 6.2 innings for the Reds will get the start tonight. Both of these teams are fairly even when it comes to batting with the Brewers having a slight lead.

After losing four games in a row, taking the Brewers tonight is a tough sell. It doesn’t help that three of their last four losses were to the Pittsburgh Pirates either. On the mound tonight is the 7-3 Eric Lauer. Lauer swings the odds in the Brewers’ favor but we’d still rather take the Reds. Coming in at +185, we’ll take the Reds to win this game on the road tonight.

New York Yankees vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 8:15 PM ETyankees vs cardinals baseball betting

The New York Yankees have lost three of their last five games bringing their record to 70-36. Tonight, they begin their series against one of the best teams in the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals. Nestor Cortes (9-3) will take the mound for the Yankees tonight and boasts an ERA of 2.53. This season the Yankees have a team batting average of .245, ranking 14th overall.

The St. Louis Cardinals have a significant edge over the Yankees in this category. Ranking sixth in MLB, the Cardinals have a batting average of .252. The real question here is can Dakota Hudson shut down the Yankees batters? Hudson has a record of 6-6 this season with an ERA of 4.10. With Hudson on the mound, we think the Cardinals have enough to win tonight at +130.

Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 9:40 PM ETrockies vs diamondbacks baseball betting

The final game we’re going to go over is the Colorado Rockies against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies have a record of 47-61 this season and are 17-34 on the road. However, this NL West matchup gives them a good opportunity to get a win. On the mound tonight is German Marquez, who has a 6-9 record with a 5.29 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have a 46-58 record but are 27-27 at home. Madison Bumgarner will take the mound to lead off today’s game. With a 6-10 record, Bumgarner may not look like much but he has an ERA of 3.83. The biggest problem for the Diamondbacks is at the plate where they’re hitting .225. We’ll go with the Rockies at +110 in this one.
