It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Thursday’s schedule.
Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals – 7:05 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves have a record of 53-37 after winning three of their last five games. Their series against the New York Mets ended in a 2-1 series loss. Now, they’ll begin their series against the Washington Nationals, who are 30-60. On the mound for the Braves is Kyle Wright, Wright is 10-4 as a starter with a 2.97 ERA.
The Washington Nationals will send out Anibal Sanchez, who has yet to pitch at all. The Nationals were already at a disadvantage and this only increases that. One area where the Nationals aren’t too bad is at the plate. As a team, Washington has a batting average of .248. Still, the best pick here is the Atlanta Braves at -225.
Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Yankees – 7:05 PM ET
At the moment the series between the Reds and Yankees are tied at 1-1. Yesterday, the Reds put up quite the fight but lost the game 7-6. Luis Castillo will take the mound for the Reds tonight, Castillo is 3-4 as a starter. Although he has a record that’s under .500, Castillo has an ERA of 2.92. There’s a chance that he could do rather well against New York.
The Yankees have a record of 62-26 this season and are 35-10 at home. However, even with that impressive record, they’ve gone through a rough patch. In their last five games, the Yankees have lost three of them. The good news is that the 7-3 Nestor Cortes will get the start tonight. With Cortes on the mound, we like the Yankees in this one at -210.
Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox have lost three games in a row, all of which to the Tampa Bay Rays. With a record of 47-42, this losing skid has affected their AL East positioning. The Red Sox have one of the best batting teams in baseball with a .259 average. However, this hasn’t helped much in recent games against the Rays.
On the mound for the Red Sox is Kutter Crawford, who is 2-2 as a starter. With an ERA of 4.50, Crawford comes into this game at a disadvantage. Taking the mound for the Rays is Drew Rasmussen, who is 5-3 this season. Rasmussen’s ERA of 3.11 should be enough to take down the Red Sox again. We’ll go with the Rays -130 at home tonight.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:15 PM ET
The series between the Dodgers and Cardinals has been an interesting one. At the moment, the series is tied at 1-1, after the Dodgers won yesterday. Each of these games has also finished with the same 7-6 score, so keep that in mind. The Dodgers again are sending out one of their best pitchers, this time it’s the 9-1 Tyler Anderson.
With Anderson on the mound the Dodgers have the edge in terms of pitching. At the plate, they have only a slight edge over the Cardinals. With a team batting average of .251, the Cardinals come in just under the Dodgers .254. Dakota Hudson will get the start for the Cardinals tonight, Hudson is 6-5 with an ERA of 4.00. The best bet in this one is Anderson and the Dodgers -160.
Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers – 8:05 PM ET
The final game we’ll take a look at is the Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers. The Mariners are 47-42 this season after winning 10 games in a row. In this 10-game winning streak they’ve swept the Padres, the Nationals, and the Blue Jays. Now, the Mariners will set their eyes on the Texas Rangers. Getting the start for Seattle tonight is Marco Gonzales, who is 5-9 this year.
The Rangers will send Martin Perez, who has a 7-2 record as a starter. Gonzales has an ERA of 3.24, which isn’t bad but not as good as Perez’s 2.72. Perez has also pitched more innings than Gonzales, so keep that in mind. The Rangers have an under .500 record at home, however, we think they even it out tonight. We’ll take the Rangers at -120 in this one.
