It’s another great day for baseball betting! Here, we’re taking a look and betting on the top five games on Wednesday’s schedule.
Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers – 2:05 PM ET
The first game we’re going to take a look at today is the Houston Astros at the Texas Rangers. The Astros, with a record of 38-24, have won just two of their last five games. Their most recent win was against the Rangers in which they secured a 4-3 victory. Tonight, they’ll start the 3-5 Luis Garcia. Garcia has an ERA of 3.60 over the course of 60.0 innings.
The Rangers have yet to name their starter for tonight’s game. Still, we can take a look at other facets of the team to make our pick. The Rangers have won three of their last five games and have a record of 29-32. They have a 14-17 record at home this season and a team batting average of .236. We’ll go with Houston to secure the win tonight.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – 3:40 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds have won their last three games, two of which were against the Diamondbacks. Yesterday, these teams went 12 innings and the Reds ended up winning 5-3. On the mound tonight for Cincinnati is Luis Castillo, who has a 2-4 record as a starter. With an ERA of 3.23, we can honestly say that some of those losses aren’t on him.
The Diamondbacks have a record of 29-35 and are 14-18 at home this season. Today, Zac Gallen (4-2) will get the start on the mound. Gallen’s record is already pretty good, but his ERA is even better at 2.95. The area where the Diamondbacks have really struggled is at the plate. However, we see them pulling it together and getting a win tonight -125.
Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals – 7:05 PM ET
Jumping quite a bit further into the night, we’ll see the Atlanta Braves face the Washington Nationals. The Braves have had an incredible winning streak, earning victories in their last 13 games. They’ve already beat the Nationals twice, securing a 10-4 victory over them yesterday. The 2-2 Spencer Strider will take the mound for the Braves, Strider has an ERA of 2.35.
The Braves will be in for a tough test as they face Erick Fedde of the Nationals. Fedde has a record of 4-4 this season with an ERA of 4.87 this season. Still, the Braves have the edge in terms of batting and pitching tonight. Because of this, we’ll have to take the Braves to win again on the road -180.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals – 7:45 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates are on quite the losing streak at the moment. The team has lost their last nine games and things aren’t looking up at the moment. Today, they face the Cardinals again, a team they’ve already lost to three times in a row. Yesterday’s game ended in a 9-1 loss for the Pirates, bringing their record to 24-37.
The St. Louis Cardinals are 37-27 this season and have won three in a row. With a record of 21-12 at home, it’s hard to imagine the Pirates winning this one. On the mound tonight is Jack Flaherty, who has yet to pitch a single inning this season. It might be a long shot, but we’ll take the Pirates +145 against Flaherty and the Cardinals.
San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs – 8:05 PM ET
Our final game of the day is between the Padres and the Chicago Cubs. San Diego is coming off of a huge 12-5 win over the Cubs yesterday. Getting the nod as the starting pitcher tonight is Ryan Weathers, another pitcher who has yet to throw this season. The Padres will likely have to rely on their batting tonight to beat the Cubs.
Chicago has had a tough stretch this season, but there are a few things they do well. For starters, they have a better batting average than the Padres at .242. Unfortunately, pitching has been a problem for the Cubs and will be again tonight. On the mound is Caleb Kilian, who has a 5.40 ERA in just five innings. We’ll take the Padres to win this one tonight.
